Missing quest in Act I (potential spoliers)

Post by jdougan1 »

I am getting near the end of Act I - but I think I may have missed one of the secondary quests. I am digging into the bowels of the temple at the fortress - it sure looks like I am close to the end of the act.

But....there is an "open" secondary quest slot between "Dire Wolf" and "Feldwyr the Blacksmith" - I have obtained all of the other secondary quests in Act I and most (though obviously not all) are completed.

Did I miss something way back? If so, if someone could poinmt the direction, that would be nice...

A couple of possibilities:

-- Just north of the North Grelyn teleporter there is an area blocked off by a wall. I can see "dots" back there - but haven't found a way back. Am I missing a way to get back there? (I have been assuming that the route will show up later - but now I am not so sure...)

-- Obviously, there are lots of ghosts I haven't talked to yet...

-- There are several unopenable doors (such as in the ruins to the SE) - perhaps a quest is found behind those doors, but I haven't gotten there yet?

Anyway, please hint me in the right direction - or tell me to be patient if I am not yet at a place to get the quest.

Thanks!

Edit: I'm very sorry, but my original post was instructions regarding the Dire Wolf quest, not realizing that you were talking about the missing spot near it.

The below poster is correct: In the building to the right of the Great Hall in Eirulan, you'll find Taar's sister, who will give you the quest you're talking about.

I'm not sure what kishar is talking about. I can't tell what he's describing, but then most of Act 1 is a blur to me now.

Looking at my journal, the quest you're missing is Taar's quest. Look for someone with a green "!" over her head in town.

Thanks - that was indeed the quest...

Interesting, tough - I had spoken to Taar's sister many many times - and all the conversation said was "Be careful in the jungle, there are horrible monsters..." or something like this. No quest was offered. But, I didn't have Taar in my party. After this post, I went back and put Taar in the party and viola, the quest is offered.

It would be nice if the game gave SOME indication that a specific party member was required to get the quest. My main character is a nature mage, so I didn't have any reason to include Taar in the party and would have never gotten the quest....

Not sure what actually triggers this quest, but it is NOT necessary to have her in your party to gain it, as I got it without her included. *shrug*

Well, I am shrugging too....

After reading the messages above, I went to the sister - I had talked to her in the past and never gotten a quest - just a "be careful of monsters in the jungle...." bit. That was STILL al I got.

So - I ran next door and switched Taar into the party - went back, and got the quest - this only about 30 seconds after I had not received it. So, it really looks to me like Taar is necessary to trigger the quest.

If you get the quest without Taar, what happens to all the sister-to-sister dialogue?

If you need a specific companion to get a quest, then the NPC will have a green "!" over its head. So far as I've seen, Feldergarb is wrong; you'll need to have the companion in your party to receive and complete the quest.

Those areas that you can't get to in the first act will become available through another companion quest in the second act. You'll do a lot of backtracking for the secondary quests.
