Update, Help

I am currently running dungeon siege ver0.2.3.801 but the pc or game wont let me upgrade to v1.1064, iv tryed upgrading to a lower version v1.0 so as to upgrade up from tht but it wont let me do this either. has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it. What does it actually do?

How does it stop you from installing the patch? Any error messages?

It says update has failed error code 36
