Frenzy Barbarian Merc ?

Post by joe05 »

Guys - first of all; thanks for setting me straight :-) ... much easier and more fun being a human weed-whacker ... I read the Frenzy outline and he mentioned a....> "Act 2 merc, especially with Holy Freeze, though Act 1 and Act 3 cold mercs are possibilities as well. (Equipping a Holy Freeze merc with Reaper's Toll at level 75 brings monsters to a virtual halt when Decrep triggers)" ... If I remember correctly, the choices were Combat/Offensive/Defensive ? ... is he reffering to the "Defensive" Merc ? ... are there different options within the "Defensive Merc family" ? ... it seems freze is important, so I have beem hoarding sapphire gems to pump up a socjeted merc weapon ... I may go with an Iron Wolf ... anyone have a thought ... I'm using the Rogue merc with cold bow now, but she seems to make me "rush into battle" due to her killing before I get within range ... thanks for helping guys = having lots of fun with this character so far
I even woke up, so to speak = euipped my helm/armor with topaz and have my magic finding up to 45% ... finally finding some yellow/gold equipment early on

To get a mercenary with Holy Freeze you must hire a defensive act 2 mercenary in nightmare difficulty. If you hire him in normal or hell he will get Defiance instead.

Putting a sapphire gem in your weapon won't do much. The freeze time decreases in higher difficulty levels, so it wont be very usefull as soon as you are passed normal.

If you want to slow enemies to a halt there is a unique spear called the Kelpie Snare, these are it's stats:
+140-180% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Adds 30-50 Damage

{{{{{{{{{{{Slows Target By 75%}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

+ (1.25 Per Character Level) 1-123 To Life (Based On Character Level)
Fire Resist +50%
+10 To Strength

You can upgrade this weapon as well if you are on ladder play over the internet to increase it's damage (to up you use Pul + Lum+ Perfect Emerald).
With it's 75% slow coupled with Holy Freeze your enemies will barely move; an excellent combo. Hope that helps ya.
