How do you set the skills as hotkeys?

Post by TheAmazingOopah »

Since it's not very practical to click and select everytime you want to change your spell/skill, I guess it's easier to set them as hotkeys. I saw that option in the Controls Menu, saying something like F1, F2, F3 etc. followed by Skill 1, Skill 2, etc., but I don't know how to set which skill is which Skill. Could anyone help me with this?

IIRC You hold your mouse over the correct skill, and press ctrl + suitable key. The key in question must be one you have assigned to a skill in the control menu.

Now this could just be me, but that explanation seemed very confusing. Im guessing that if a seasoned D2 player found it confusing, then someone less experienced would also. Again, just a thought, I could be totally wrong.

In order to set hotkeys, all you need to do is press 'S' on your keyboard to bring up your skills. Then hover over a skill and press the hotkey you wish your skill to be locked to.

F1-F8 are the default keys you can bind a skill to. However, with certain chars, I find that more hotkeys are needed. So I went into key config. and added F9-F12. Before I added them they were bind to some stupid map options, which I have personally never used.

I always assign my skill hotkeys to the left letters on the keyboard (the square between Q,R,Z and V) because they're much easier to remember and to reach than the Function keys.

Thats not a bad idea! The only problem presented to me however, is that I use most of the hotkeys that Blizzard set. (Such as Q-Quest,R-Run,C-Char)
