Dragon at Shadowbrook

Post by dblltroubl »

I must be stupid. I can't seem to get that bullista to work. I'm trying to kill the dragon and can use the gears to move the weapon, but can't seem to get it to fire. In the meantime, my guys keep getting fried by the dragon. Any suggestions???

You click on the ballista to get it to fire. However, if the dragon breathes on it, then it will become unusable for a while (and glow orange). The same thing can happen to the gears. So don't stand right next to the ballista while you're waiting for the dragon to land.

Have to turn the Balista

I had some confusion when I went into the Dragon fight. If you look at the balista it has what looks like a cog with a lever on each side. The dragon will perch on the front, left or right and bombard the party with fireballs. You have to click on the cogs in the direction that you want to turn the balista to face the dragon and then click on it to fire it.

It's all a matter of timing to get using the Ballista down pat. My tips: it's best to have the Rampage order active so your party isn't tightly clustered together (or, issue other commands to individual characters to spread them out). The Dragon won't have a convenient group to bombard. Being spread out gives him more targets to choose from, and I found it's easier to work the Ballista that way. A Nature Mage casting Spirit Embrace beforehand goes a long way towards protecting the party from fire, which is a good thing to have in this fight. I also stacked up on some extra fire resistance before going at it. One last tip...the crabs that attack you are hurt by the dragon's fire. Use that to your advantage. ;)
