Game freezes

i bought DS2 recently and my game freezes all of a sudden.

My computer is:
Ati radeon 7000
512 ddr ram
2.8Ghz processor
250Gb Hd.

i got sp2 installed and 2.1 patch. so how come my game keeps freezing. sometimes i can play 1-2 hours and sometimes it only takes 10 mins. any idea?

when the game freezes, are you able to alt-tab out of it?

also, it never hurts to make sure that you have the lastest sound and video drivers since games depend on those the most.

When the game freezes i can't alt tab, so i have to reboot completely. i got an integrated sound card and maybe i'll have to renew my drivers.

and allways before i start playing now i shut down programs that take alot of memory too. it could be the drivers that is spooking. I got an newer motherboard aswell.
ASUS K7880 i think the name was. in school writng this post.

i'm suspecting that the game crashes because tho computer memory gets out of memory or something. my CPU temp when playing ds2 is not very high, about 50 degrees celsius.

my experience has been that problems between video/sound drivers and the game is usually consistent but your problem is very inconsistent as to when the game freezes.

i would try investigating whether there is a problem with your memory modules.
download some memory diagnostic utility off the web and see if it finds any faults with the memory.
another thing that i would try is swapping out the memory modules with others if you have some spare or buy some at a local computer shop and return them once you determine whether your memory modules are faulty or not.

i ran the asus probe while playing the game to monitor how much of the physical memory were used when playimng ds2. when playing ds2 90% of the physical memory is used sometimes it can be up to 98%.

can you give an good webpage to an program for memory diagnostics?

But i suspect that my memory is too small, i will check if i get cet my hands on cheap 512 or 256 Mb memorys and see if it's get better.

Do you have any problems playing other more recent games? I doubt there's anything wrong with your computer, not hardware-wise I mean. Your memory is enough to play any game currently out there.

it's only ds2 that is havning probelms. i've tried alot of other games. Jedi academy, warcraft 3, EE2, MoH. all on high quality and little to zero lag when i play those.

. it is only ds2 that is acting weird. could my built in soundcard and my graphics card be crashing? i've though of so many things but i can't figure out what the wrong is

Then it's DS2's problem. You can try different video drivers and the latest DS2 patch. Some games just don't run well on particular machines.
