Help - any suggestions for defeating the dark wizard?

Every so often the wizard conjurs some things that float around him and protect him in battle. Are you attacking them as soon as they appear?

There is a nice skill your ranger can develop "Slience" use it often but only when you have taken down his defences. Have fun!
