New Lightsaber Types and other stuff

I know this should be in the "what do you want in KotOR III" thread, but I suppose it deserves a new one.

So - in Star Wars games and movies (the I,II,III,IV,V,VI episodes) we had practicaly only 2 types of lightsaber - single hilted and lightstaff. Dual lightsaber is not a type, but an style of using this weapon. I think there should come with something new. I know it will colidate with fact that there will be no such thing in future of SW world, but what the heck. Althought my english still need's to be worked with, here are some of my ideas:

1. Lightscythe. Perfect weapon (at least for better look's) for an Dark Jedi\Sith. Imagine a Sith Lord, dressed in black cloak, skeleton mask on face and with hood on. In hands he wields a Lightscythe, which can be combined with my other idea - the Corrupted Crystal (which project's covers the beam with dark matter, making it black). So, he stands before you, talking to you with an dark, low voice, then you can fight him, kill him, take his stuff

Sounds great for me. Oh, and this it is made like this: the longer part, the stick is covered with the same electro-magnetic-or-something field, so it can reflect lightsaber and laser in addition. On the top, 90 degrees to the stick is mounted hilt, made in the same way as in the Fistsaber below.

2. Fistsaber. Two of these babies could give whole lotta fun. This can be difficult to describe, but it can be done like this: on grip there are 4 ring's which through you can put your fingers. Mounted to it is the hilt, which is saber's blade shaped. The beam is not as in normal lightsabers, where it comes out of the top of hilt and it creates a long blade. Here it comes out of the part, where you would usually hold it. Damn, I wish I could show it to you on a picture, but I hope you get what I mean.

Because all of this is nowhere to be found in in the films or games (I don't know if anything of this were in the comic or book series, because I have not read them), it should be unique. Very limited, or only one of each created.

I don't want to get anymore creative, because it would go to far I guess. I already had an idea for an Lightshield and Lightbow, so that will be all I propose for now

I get where you are going with this but i dont see it happening . There might not be too many problems with this idea but the problems at hand are really big and need to be explained before i support this idea.

First problem is where are all the lightsaber components going to fit. Where does the three crystals going to fit. And all the components that make a lightsaber work with the crystals going to fit.

I'm sure it looked awsome in your head but it really would look ugly with these factors.

Second, you said it what happened to them in the future. I'm sure that future Jedi would be interested in these items so for what reason are they not there.

Final and pretty much the biggest is the Lightsaber is the weapon of the Force. If you watched the cartoon they say the lightsaber is a part of there life and they wouldn't change that.

I don't mean to knock your idea cause it is a great idea but these problems make hard to see happen.

Well, for the fitting problem - the hilt would be as usuall, bot only longer and in diffrent shape, but still it would be big enough for crystals and other stuff. Second, these are lightsabers too, but made by the Sith Lord's to reflect their characters. And the only way for them not be in the future, is to destroy them, I guess. There are hundreds of ways to do that, so I won't bother myself giving examples. And trust me, it is possible to contruct such weapons, I mean if they can travel with speed of light (hyperspace), then what problem is that?

The problems i presented where specificly for the saberfists.And i still dont see how the hilt can be a different shape. The lightsaber just goes straight up and pretty believeable but one the changes shape at the top not really believeable.

Like i said before i'm not being offensive cause i like the idea but it's still doubtable.

Lightsaber hilts have been bent before. It is possible. The 'light' part of the saber can be transferred through mirrors to the emitters.

I wouldn't mind seeing one or two alterations to the current weaponry. One would be that the lightsaber can start and end in the saber.

For example, you have a U shaped piece of weaponry, with shortened lightsaber handles at the ends. Instant emitter, and a straight line goes across.

It's proabably safe to presume that they will be staying away from changing the weapons, but it would be nice.

I think he means the light part goes straight up and then curves to form a scyth now i don't see how any mirrors can produce that effect.

But that idea of yours with the U shape, i can see it working out.

projectors should be one by another, creating a very short beam (they project beam of lenght equaly the same as the one of the emmiter, so lenght of emmiter = lenght of the beam). This is supposed to create one blade, shaped as the hilt. But still, I don't know how to split the beam throughout the emmiter's, as there should be only one focusing crystal, but hell, I ain't no technician. I suppose you could cut the crystal into little pieces for evry emmiter.

i like the design for the fistsaber. would make hand to hand combat a bit more interesting

in fact, both weapons would be great if they were included.

The fistsaber wouldn't be too bad, your idea for that seems pretty solid, but I still can't see the lightscyth working as it would be pretty easy to disable. With the emiters at the top like that, it would just take one swing hitting the top of the scyth to ruin it.

Regardless, I doubt that there will be any new types of lightsabers being introduced.

Oh stop being so pesimistic

Although you're almost 100% right bout putting such stuff into to the game, this is a pretty known forum and there is a slight chance someone from KotOR III team will read this thread and perhaps we will see Fistsaber in the new game. Secend, the hilt of the Lightscythe would have the same field around it as in the Vibroblades, so it's suppose to reflect other lightsabers.

Barely any of these ideas will probably make it into the game, this is just for fun, to get my ideas out.

Now back to the topic, i see what you mean now the fistsabre is pretty good but the lightscyth is a bit easy to defeat. Not in the game of coarse because items don't get damaged.

Yes, I realise fighting with such thing (the Scythe) would be very difficult for the wielder. So, I was thinking about making it short enough to make it one-handed, therefore making possible to either grab a classic light saber in the other hand or just to improve fighting with Scythe only. And for the Fistsaber, it too can be wielded along a typical lightsaber, and it should be, because any other type of lightsaber would prove no defence against 2 of those things. Anyway, this is all just wandering "what if", as this is almost 100% not to be seen in the new KotOR.

Interesting ideas..but can't see it happening on two fronts....1) It's far too much of a deviation from what the archetype of a "Jedi" is, or rather, the weapons that they are associated with. It'd be like handing a mace to a samurai and expecting the mace to have the same symbolic, spiritual and cultural attributes as a katana. At this point since the history of the jedi, and their story is already set...most people I would think would view it as something out of touch with what logically makes up a jedi as portrayed to this point.

2) Both types of weapons would create severe disadvantages in attacking...the scythe is vulnerable on the outside of the emitters, and simply wielding something with that type of design would be awkward. The fist saber would be drastically lacking in range, maybe creating a huge defensive penalty when facing any opponent that isn't also unarmed.

I dunno...you'll be hard pressed to create something that is on par with what's already been done in this area. It seems most cultures have a certain focus on the "sword", so I would imagine that's still the best way to represent a jedi.

Now..having customizable hilts...that would be something.

Yes yes, I know my inventions would be difficult in use, that they suck and are not suppose to be even mentioned. I don't expect, demand or want them in the new game, but I wanted to encourage people here to think of something new, unique and still considered as an lightsaber.

I got a good one here!

A double bladed lightsaber that the player can seperate to make two lightsabers. This way the player can have two different crystals on each end, and it's a unique idea.

Personally i wouldn't use it all the time but i would sure use it most of the time.

Unique? Not really. I'm sorry, but I heard that idea many times. Perhaps you could make experiments with the lenght of the beam, like making it short as tanto or long as an dai-katana. I think there is no point of thinking new types of lightsaber, so let's concentrate on some additions to it. I was thinking of an mechanism, that would project a powerful, short-lasting flash, which would blind opponents. No thoughts on how to make wielder not affected by it.

But force sensitives don't use they're sight (refer to Luke's Jedi training in the Falcon) they use the force so that wouldn't affect force sensitives. And a force sensitive has so many different force powers that can do that so they don't really need it.

A double bladed lightsaber would be an awsome addition to the game regardless if it is original or not.

A good idea would be to have the fiber-cord linked lightsabers like Asajj Ventress has in Battlefront II. They're basically saber-nunchucks.
