Meteor/Orb sorc

Post by Ciba_Blue »

On my last account, I had a meteor/orb sorc that I used for mfing, but since this is a new accnt i'm playing on, I started new chars. I decided on making another meteor/orb sorc, but not for mf atm, if i go with + skill items, can it be a very strong char? I know it was moderately strong with mf gear on, but i've never played it with non mf items.

You should go orb/firewall sorc. Max orb, icebolt, a few in cold mastery. Max firewall and fire mastery. Should be maxed around lvl 60-80. Ive had one on hc with the new patch that allowed synergies and it was very powerful. But meteor orb sorc would be OKAY, although with the synergies it would take too much points to get it high enough to be of use in hell. Hope that helps.

Standard Meteorb Sorc build is this:

20 Frozen Orb
1 + spare points Cold Mastery
20 Meteor
20 Fireball
20 Fire Mastery
rest in Firebolt

With some +skills, this will be a very powerful build that can solo any area in the game. Don't neglect survivability though: pack enough +life and resists. The Orb/FW build is probably equally powerful, but it is mainly cold oriented while the Meteorb Sorc is in essece a fire sorceress, it takes quite some skill to place a good firewall, and due to FW's cast timer and placement issues the build advances slower than the Meteorb. If I'd really want a very fast, powerful build, I'd use Meteor only as synergy and make Fireball my main attack.

I noticed yesterday that FW is a shaky skill, while it deals decent dmg, nothing is there to stop the monsters from advancing, I find meteor much more convenient because it deals massive dmg from the main meteor, then also deals fire dmg like firewall, since i'll eventually go for mf, I think im just gonna go with meteor.

Well, then again, meteor has a delay to it, so it leaves you vulnerable for a second, and that second is enough to screw everything up.

I prefer cold sorc, mainly because the ice spells get an insane synergy.

But to each his own.

An excellent sorceress in Hell can clear cow games with just FW. In about 3 seconds they die. Its way more powerful than you think. Meteors delay sucks, freeze them with orb then firewall them, they will stay in it for a few seconds and die soon.

And most importantly, NEVER SKIP on that Static spell. The 25% monster's health is REALLY insane when used on say, Andarial, Diablo, Mephistopheles, Baal, and Duriel.

In Hell its less because their resistance negates it and can only take them down a certin much.

But still, through Normal and Nightmare, it's always a useful thing to have.
