A Little Help

Post by coldman252001 »

I'm new at this so please forgive me. When I finish a level and kill all the monsters then when I "save and exit" from Diablo II after I'm finished playing, when I return to play again I must kill all the monsters once again. Is this normal? Or is there a way for me to quit playing and return to play the game as I left it ... with all the monsters dead? It just doesn't make sense to me to complete a level only to have to go through the level again after I' "save and exit" the game. Thank you for any and all help.

Nope, no other way to do that. Save and Exit is the only way to get out of the game (without hitting Alt + F4 of course) and it does regenerate monsters next time you play.

Sometimes it sux, sometimes it's good, because you gain levels really quickly this way.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

Hah,actualy there is no other way to get out of the game without saving it.Trust me.i have tried. Here are some experiment that didn't work:

1.Plugging out the Computer
2.Alt F4
3.The power shut down didnt bother it much
4.Making a restart on the computer

If you ever find a way,let me know.

don't feel obligated to kill all the monsters. The beauty of this design is that it allows you to go back and gain experience if you need to. Or go back and re-kill bosses looking for better items.

This monster regen thing is why waypoints are so helpful, I usually mark the discovery of a waypoint as a good spot to stop playing for the day, because I will be able to easily restart from that spot.

Hello Coldman and welcome to the forum!

Like other members have already posted, it is perfectly normal and indeed a feature of the game, that all monsters are back and alive when you return to an area after having cleaned it out in a previous session.

Apart from finishing the game, ie playing through the game on all 3 difficulty levels Normal, Nightmare and Hell with one character, the goal for most people who play Diablo II is to gain levels and to find good equipment for your characters. Replaying certain areas and killing certain monsters who have a higher chance to drop good items is part of the game strategy.
You don't need to take all the Waypoints and you don't even need to do all the quests, there are only a few quests that are necessary to do in order to proceed in the game. There are also a few quests that you need to do because you get a very good reward.

If you don't feel like killing all the monsters in an area again, you can just run past them, into the next area. Don't use any other way to quit the game than "Save and Exit". Rebooting your computer or other forced methods does not change the game and if you play online at Battle.net it may cause a reroll of your save, ie the last things you did in your game may disappear.
