Saving throws...

Post by Autoriot »

I've beat the game legit and now I'm going to have fun with edited characters.

This might sound like a wierd question, but AD&D rules seems to be the opposite of all other games (lower armor is better, etc).......soo....are saving throws better when high or low?

From what editing I done I would say the lower the better. I could be wrong.

What makes it tricky is that AC. I is because their (attackers) chances of hitting will be deducted if minus defence and added if plus. Saving throws is the chance of you avoiding the attack melee, missile or spell. The more saving throws you get the bigger chance of him missing.

The lower your saving throws the better.
You have to roll higher than your saving throw on a 20 sided dice in order to save.

Trip-wiRe is right. When you level up, your saving throws become lower (exactly how much can be seen in the lower left window). In order to avoid for example a spell effect, you have to roll a twenty-sided dice (numbers 1-20). If you have a saving throw versus spell at 7, you have to roll this number or higher in order to make a succesful saving throw. Thus, the lower your saving throw versus the undesired effect, the easier it will be for you to avoid it.

Garcia; are you sure about saving throws versus physical attacs? I've never heard of this before (have never played the monk, though. Could this be the way to dodge an attack?). Do you mean that a hit first has to be made, and that the target then still has a saving throw in order to avoid the hit?

I think we mean the same here it is like armour AC if you get + to AC it becomes lower and if you get like with the "human flesh" +4 to saving throws it decents as well.

Astafas, it is only against magic weapon with spell infliction you use them so it isn't really physical, I believe.
