A small canyon

Is there any way to get into the small canyon on the way to the fortress? I see a door at the bottom but can't figure out to get to it

I can't even tell what act you're in. We have a maps section here that you might want to look at.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

small canyon

I am in act 1 on my way to the fortress and Xerias temple. I have come through the Azunite Lost Valley and crossed the bridge into the cave with the mirror puzzle. When I crossed the bridge is when I noticed the doorway at the bottom of the canyon. The doorway is at the middle of the screen at the bottom of the canyon

If you are where I think you are, that valley is in the back of the cave off of the desert, right before you entered the ancient azunite shrine. If you missed it, don't worry, it isn't critical.

I think I know where you are talking about. That canyon (if I am right) is the one with the skeleton that the note that allows you to find the "buried treasure" at the back of the canyon.

Yep that's where I am! There are some enemies down in the canyon. Can't tell if there is any treasure there but just for kicks would like to get down there :D Another post said something about a skeleton and a note about finding buried treasure. Where is the skeleton and the note???? And how do I get down there??

Here is the link to the map of the walkthrough that deals with that. The skeleton is #8, treasure #8a.

Optinal area

By one group of Stath you must kill is an access tunnel to the canon you seee from the bridge. Be sure to turn in a circle after killing the Stath.
