I saw Mass Effect's E3 demo walkthrough at Gametrailers and its quite interesting. Its gameplay and command systems kind of remind me of Freedom Fighters, a 3rd person shooter by IO Interactive. The fact that there are different ways in accomplishing missions is interesting. The only concern I had for Mass Effect is that there are some frame rate issues at certain parts of the game, especially when the trailer demonstrated the fighting scenes. Sometimes its smooth, sometimes its really slows down. Just hope they can fix it before launch.
So...am I the only person to comment on Mass Effect?

''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

I thought that the interactive dialog was pretty cool like the part were he pulls out his gun and than finally the bartender starts talking. I just hope they do not over due it like being able to pull a gun or interact when ever you want it should depend on who you are talking to and what about

So far I haven't seen any melee weapons in use yet. Only projectile weapons and some magic attacks from what I saw from the gameplay demonstration trailer of Mass Effect.Drunkside wrote:i think its kinda interesting, but is there going to be melee?

But i think someone said that there is going to be "lightsaber like weapons, not a blade of light, though".

I saw the gameplay demonstration and some previews of Mass Effect a while back and they made no mention of a melee weapon. From what I can tell, the game seems to be entirely focused on projectile weapons.Drunkside wrote:But i think someone said that there is going to be "lightsaber like weapons, not a blade of light, though".

They're trying something new and that's admirable. Whether it will be any good, time will tell. I still doubt you can make a character more lifelike by solely focussing on facial expressions though, as those aliens/people in that bar looked a bit stiff. Not Deus Ex 2 stiff, just a bit.. lifeless.
That semi-shooter scene looks odd. I don't really know what to make of it.

I personally like the romance system they are putting in. They made it sound like, if the character meets another female, he can romance her. What the end result would be, they didn't specify.
Another feature that peeked my interest is the galaxy and the amount of locations to visit. They made that sound like there are lots (and i mean lots) of planets and locations to travel to.
One thing i hope to see is some melee weapons. I like the idea of new age sword fighting. Imagine the kind of melee weapons they can make with new age technology.
P.S. I hope it is an open-ended game.

I don't recall ever coming across romances in Mass Effect. Where was this mentioned?marten0305 wrote:I personally like the romance system they are putting in. They made it sound like, if the character meets another female, he can romance her. What the end result would be, they didn't specify.

I get most of my videogame info from IGN.com. If you look in previews, it says something about it in one of the video previews.DesR85 wrote:I don't recall ever coming across romances in Mass Effect. Where was this mentioned?
Another feature that caught my attension is the armor. You can repair or leave it the way it is, and it will show. Repair and it will look brand new or leave it and it will look war torn. Personally i'd like the war torn, make it look like i've been through a lot.

Semi-shooter RPG
Combining two genres like Shooter and Role Playing is a great idea. Combining these two genres is a major seller for me, combining any genres is a seller for me. I have a friend that doesn't like rpg's (don't ask me why) and doesn't play them either, but he will play ME because it's a shooter. This can give an opportunity forother gamers to try these genre's.

this is going to be one of the important games in a while simply because of the character interaction that they are developing. The holy grail of story driven games has been to get the player emotionaly involved with the character and the system they are employing allows you to not just pick what you say but how you say it. You are just giving a couple of words to show you different emotional responces and you choose how you want him to act. Coupled with the brilliant facial animations it should be one of the deepest story driven games so far this gen.

Yes, I'm looking forward to the game, all the previews I've seen and the stuff form the official site, have made the son-in-law and I eagerly await the release.

Another BioWare game with brilliant reviews. Can't wait to play it.

I'm really enjoying ME. Good storyline, great graphics and fells very much KOTOR to me but without the Star Wars theme lol. The gameplay feels similar and the way tou manage your equipment, upgrades, skills etc. I've not played too far as yet as I tend to play the PC the most and the 360 is on the 42" downstairs which the wife watches her TV on (dammit I knew there would ge a reason why I'd regret getting married lol) so can only play on it at limited times unless I move the 360 upstairs but then I'd have to slum it on a 28"
