Hear me out! Got the game, played like a friggin maniac the first 2 days, got to Epic with my Assasin and was having a blast playing this Diablo inspired game. Suddenly my computer decides to reboot on it's own. I'm thinking "ah well, I't happends". Booting up in windows, I open Titan Quest once again and I click "Play Titan Quest" get's on yo my character and I spawn in the Pernassaus Cave where I was before the reboot.
Well here comes the scary part. I open my questlog and everything is gone. My inventory/items/stats etc are all still there, but my whole questlog is completly empty!
I go back to act 1 starting point(still epic mode, everything in Normal is still completed) and can again choose to pickup the first quest. I got veeeeery uppset!
So here I am now, trying to figure out how this could happend. The day after the whole character was gone so I actually decided to just start over with an entire diffrent build. I'l go for ranger now and try out some range since the wolves in Nature tree and all the spear/bow effects in Hunting tree is really too good to be true. I mean who doesn't want 3 wolves fighting by your side, tanking mobs, dealing massive dmg, low energy cost(they barely die at all).
Well, I'l just continue to play my ranger and complete the whole game but still want some answers of what could have happend to my assasin who just all of a sudden dissapeared.

Hmm, not sure exactly what happened, but you could try using a program "TQ Defiler."
Not sure exactly the location of that file, but google Titan Quest Defiler and it should come up a pretty common file. That program restores corrupt save games to where you last were and if I remember, you can edit where you are in the game quest wise.
I MIGHT be wrong though, I am not for sure on this at all and make no guarentee's.

This happened to me once, right about the same spot. Sometimes my computer forgets that I actually *do* have the latest drivers for my video card, and crashes to bluescreen. This happened, and I lost my Rogue/Spirit character. The game reloaded with my character at the game's starting point, naked but for a basic tunic, no weapons-not even the knife, no money and no items. Level 1 with no skills to boot. And the quest log remained oddly intact, listing all my quests as completed up to Parnassus. I didden't know about the defiler thing, so I grumbled and started over. I save often and it hasen't happened since. Wierd. Oh, and (crosses fingers) my computer stopped crashing too.

The Defiler does NOT (yet) have ability to edit quest status. You can modify waypoints, however, if you are not able to simply continue for some reason. Having your quests wiped should not have an impact on your gameplay, unless you replay them to get xp again. The loss of progress and the resetting of characters to level 1 has been a known game bug since the game was released. Unfortunately, you cannot recover a character reset to level 1, unless a backup exists, because the game saved the character file correct...just without any information except the characters name. The quests if still intact could be used still, or copied to another character easily though.
Just a side note, the Defiler has an option to backup your character files (not map/quest data, only 1 character for that) every X minutes, and does not affect gameplay, as it is copying a few small files.

Maker of the Defiler/Portable, get it here:
