Hi. I'm starting a ranger bow build, (Nature + Hunting) and I was thinking of putting some points into the Call of the Wild tree to take some of the damage of myself. I was wondering if the other summon skill of that tree, Sylvan Nymph, is really worth it?
Also, do summons gain more health when you enter Epic and Legendary difficulties?
Thx in advance for any help.
EDIT: I thought about it and i don't think I made the question clear. Is the skill worth the points, or would they be better spent somewhere else?
Sylvan Nymph worth it?

Depends on how you play your Ranger. If you use a melee weapon such as a spear, then it is worth it. She stands off to the side and shoots at your enemies, reducing their health, sometimes killing them. If your preferred weapon is the bow (especially if you have a good one) then you really don't need her all that much. I use the Nymph with my Hunter, yet I like the wolves better. You can try her out and see for yourself. If she doesen't work, visit an Arcanist and redistribute those points in other areas. Have fun.
Yah, experimentation is more or less rewarded in this game, so feel free to try to use her and see how she works.firesong100 wrote:Depends on how you play your Ranger. It should be noted, especially as a ranger, between Plague + Synergies, and Study Prey/Flush Out, and Call of the Hunt/Exploit Weakness, and Art of the Hunt, the fact that your Nymph's bow attacks do PURE piercing damage (No normal damage component) and the general utility of Nature's Wrath, IMO packing 16/16 on Nymph and getting as many excess points into Wrath as possible is a very interesting and powerful option.
Yes, your summoned pets gain a LOT of health and mana when you enter the later difficulties, and between maxed Call of the Wild and Heart of Oak your puppies can expect to enter Survival Instinct at around 2300+/- HP. (at 33% HP in legendary difficulty, 4000+ normal HP with Call at 20 including skill boni from items, and Heart at 16 also including skill boni from items, giving them a total max HP of over 7000 each) Between Plague and their Damage Resistance, they can actually tank pretty well considering you get your 3rd one at 18+ skill (from items or Shrine of Mastery) and you can simply recast one if it dies before you can Regrowth it.
There is a bug that makes your pets pay the mana reserve on the Art of the Hunt tree, making their mana abilities all but useless in Normal mode. It's not nearly the problem in Epic and Legendary, however.
Another display bug happens if you add to or remove a skill point into a main Pet skill (Call of the Wild, Sylvan Nymph, Summon Liche King, and Core Dweller) that resets the shown HP and Mana values to those used in Normal Difficulty. This is merely a display bug and their actual HP/MP when summoned will be correct for your current level of difficulty.
Btw, first post from a TQ.net regular ^^
