Taar the Retard
Taar the Retard
I'm just now getting to Kithraya Caverns and I bet Taars died 100 times. I've got her active on Lesser Icebolt and auto on Summon Raptor/Lesser Heal. What am I doing wrong?

How did you spread your skill points on Taar?
I made her actively cast heal spells as her default weapon slot (full-time).
And for her auto-spells...a summon and some kind of buffer (+resistances and immunity to curses is the buffer spell that I use most of the time).
I know it sounds retarded...and she just stands around looking stupid most of the time...but, keeping my other characters at full health is her only true job...while her summon does the equivalent of what a offensive nature spell should do.
I only have her use INSTANT HEAL spells as to give health to characters who need need health right away. Those health regen'ing over time spells usually somehow get my characters killed...as it's just not enough health quickly enough for them.

My team consists of
Myself - Melee
Deru - Nature Mage
- Active Spell - Ice Bolt
- Auto Spell - Heal
- Auto Spell - Summon Bracken Defender
Taar - Healer

Heh heh, okay, i cheat in that i have not one healer, but two, however, when i first played through up to Amanlu, Deru was an Archer, and i never found too many problems with Taar dying. What do you play? As in your main character? Melee, Range, Nature/Combat Mage? I play Melee, so my fighter usually gets in there and kills anything that moves so, Taar (and Deru) don't really get hurt too much.
However, i have found if you have your second active spell (i don't like having the character tabs scrolled out full, so i only work with two spells and two powers, which works for me) if you have your second spell as a buff/wrath (usually Spirit Embrace - Immune to Curses + Resistances and/or Earthen Embrace - +XX% Maximum Health), that helps increase the rate of survival considerably.
Also, try putting 1 skill point in "Enveloping Embrace" as soon as you meet the requirements (i think it is a level 5 skill). 1 SP in Embrace Enveloping = Invunerability Power. If one of your characters has made someone angry, use Invunerability. Saved me loads of times. Better yet, have two characters (Deru and Taar) with Invunerability, and your laughing. (even if you plan on using Deru as Ranger, 5 levels in Nature Magic, and 1 SP in Enveloping Embrace, is not too much to pay for one of the better defensive Powers in the game).
Hope it helps.
