Mainly Fireball and Cloudkill, since you get these spells relatively early in the game. Later on, Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting is also a good one, but like I wrote, you only get that one later on in the game. Besides, it's a high-level spell, meaning you can't memorise as many of them as Fireballs or Cloudkills.

at lowest level Agannazar's Scorcher is also nice,
at low level: Fireball, Cloudkill and also Sunfire (for best results fired in the midst of an enemy bunch),
at medium level: Chain Lightning, Prismatic Spray,
at high level: Abi Dalzim's HW (rulez!) and div. Symbols (Fear etc.),
at highest level: Wail of the Banshee (THE killer)

The cleric spells Bolt of Glory and Fire Storm are good. Holy Smite isn't as strong but good when you're running out of higher power spells

Fireball, cloudkill...then later loved Meteor storm, Death FogDelayed Fireball, & Incendiary cloud. With undead always used false Dawn.

I love Ice Storm. I also like Holy Smite, because it only affect evil creatures, and since my party is neutral-good alignment, I can cast while my fighters are fighting in the area.

Abi-Dhalzim's Horrid Wilting is the ultimate...but here's another strategy. Cast limited wish: invulnerability (minor globe of invulnerablitiy on all), then cast a bombardment of skull traps. Never got to try it, but I'm sure it will reduce any non-magic resistant enemy to dust.
