Ctrl Alt Del?

Post by Grumolch »

Tried searching the thread "windows" "windowed mode" "Ctrl Alt Del" "Exit to Windows"...I'm sure I've seen a post on this, but I'll be damned if I can find it again.

Anywho...I recently emptied my browser, which, for some reason, empties my access settings on my EZ Firewall. So everytime I clear my firewall settings, I have to allow/deny access to all the programs I launch from my computer. One of which is DSII. I know there is a pop-up running in the background, but the game freezes after the dot sequence, and I am unable to Ctrl+Alt+Del or press the winlogo button on my keyboard to see what's popped up in the background. I've tried Alt+tab and Alt+F4, as well, with no luck.

Is there a way to toggle between running applications while playing DSII? If so, please direct me to instructions or the proper thread regarding this.

(Note: This is not a video card issue, savegame issue, or installation issue. The game will run fine once I can tick the proper box in my Firewall pop-up)

Thanks a ton,
Gary

Most firewall configurations have two sorts of programs attached to them. One being the auto-pop up for starting an unrecognized program like you've mentioned, and the other is a manual configuration. Wherever your firewall program is located on your computer, search around it for a file that looks like you could modify the firewall entirely. Like "Settings" or "Configuration." Look for .ini and .exe files mainly, and lemme know what you find.

Okay. I figured out what was wrong with the firewall. I was able to manually allow DSII as a trusted program, but it did not take effect until I rebooted my system. Everything working normally, now.

What I really want to know, I guess, is how to return to my desktop while having DSII continue to run. Or how to put DSII into a windowed mode, so I can toggle out of the game for whatever reason (ie.pop-ups, im's, etc.)

Thanks,
Gary

After the ....... loading screen, Alt + Tab should work well. I do it all the time while typing instant messages to my friends.

yeah, alt + tab. It is a beautiful thing! My only problem is that I never close DSII during a compaign so as to never get repeat uniques and sets.

I'll try Alt+Tab again. Maybe now that my firewall is not interfering with startup, it will work. Yes..yes it does! I'm excited.

Thanks a ton!
