I've just started a new game, picked up Taar and noticed something wrong with enveloping embrace.
According to the description it's supposed to increase an embrace spell power and duration. On checking i found that whilst the duration of Earth Embrace did indeed increase as advertised, the power didn't. It it's still only an 8% increase in health, is this specialty broken? If so, how many other specialties are broken? If it's not broken, what exactly does 'Embrace Spell Power +32%' mean?

The 'Enveloping Embrace' skill will increase duration and power (means here: efficiency, performance) of all embracing buff spells.galraen wrote:...what exactly does 'Embrace Spell Power +32%' mean?
Take a closer look at the skill description, it tells you about 'Embrace Spell Power' and 'Embrace Spell Duration'.
There is no word that it would affect defensive skills like 'Fortitude' too (assumed you refered on this because you mentioned +8% health).

I believe Galraen was talking about the spell earth embrace, which grants the caster and his party bonus hitpoints (i.e 8%).

...ah - but then the question is quite unclear!?
...and there is no 'Encase Power' (there is only an nature magic spell called 'Encase').
So where should now the benefits of 'Enveloping Embrace' be considered too?
According to the description 'Enveloping Embrace' doesn't increase any skill nor any executable powers. As mentioned above it only will increase the effects of buff spells like eg. with 'Embrace Earthen' spell.galraen wrote:I've just started a new game, picked up Taar and noticed something wrong with enveloping embrace.

The first sentence of the second paragraph should have read
According to the description it's supposed to increase an embrace spell power and duration; not According to the description it's supposed to increase an encase power and duration.
Apologies for the typo.
PS Original post has been corrected.

Ah ok...
Well... without any skill influence 'Embrace Earthen' bonus is +5% health with 2 nature magic levels and +10% with 32 or more nature magic levels.
But for the moment let us suppose you have 8 nature magic levels.
Then the spell will increase your max. health by 6%. These 6% are now the current power/efficiency/performance of the spell.
Now put a few skill points in 'Enveloping Embrace' to increase the spell power by approximately 35%.
Like this it will result in a health increasment of 8% instead of 6% because 8% = 6% + 6% * 35/100
Most skill point bonuses will be considered like this although a percental increasment of a percentage is probably a bit unusual.
Hopefully this will bring some light in this matter, otherwise post more information about nature magic levels, game version and skill points set.

That's what I was expecting to happen, but it didn't. Taar's Nature Skill level at the time was nine, Earthen Embrace health bonus was at 8%. After allocating two points to 'Enveloping Embrace' it was still 8%, but the duration had gone up by the indicated amount. I even checked health before and after casting Earthen Embrace, thinking maybe the spell had improved even though the description indicated it hadn't. Sure enough, the additional health was exactly 8%, not 10.5%. (8%+8%*32/100)KillerGremal wrote: But for the moment let us suppose you have 8 nature magic levels.

PS I'm playing the deluxe edition, Broken World. Should have stated that in the first post.
