Controls for SW KOTOR 3

Force power forms
Force Channel: Boosts connection to the force.
Force Potency: Pulls in more force energy for more powerful attacks, but can drain your stamina fast.
Force Affinity: Allows you to use force as efficiently as possible. But not very powerful, definitely not as powerful as force potency, however, it’s like being in a meditation giving you good focus.
Force Mastery: Gathers all force energy severely weakening the enemy and tripling your power. However, it will drain your stamina faster than force potency.
Force power controls
Throw lightsaber: Pull and hold Left trigger; target and throw lightsaber with right thumb stick. In mid-air the lightsaber is controlled with the right thumb stick.
Burst of speed: Double tap left thumb stick to activate burst of speed. Duration depends on force power upgrade.
(Use menu to select force push, pull, whirlwind and wave)
Force Push: Hold right trigger to gather force; target enemy/object with right thumb stick and push them. Can move them side to side also.
Force Pull: Hold right trigger to gather force; pull with right thumb stick.
Force Whirlwind: Hold right trigger to gather force; rotate right thumb stick in direction you want enemy to rotate.
Force Wave: Hold right trigger until a lot of your force points is used up, and release when you choose to do so.
Duration depends on how long you hold right trigger… The longer the right trigger is held, the stronger the push is, braking walls and other objects affecting multiple enemies; Weapons can be pulled out enemy hands; Whirlwind increases in size pulling in multiple enemies and objects; Force wave will blast everything out of your way braking every breakable object in the area doing critical interior and exterior damage to all enemies. It’s extremely powerful, but uses up tonnes of force points.
(Use menu to select)
Force Resistance/Immunity: Click both thumb sticks to resist force based attacks.
(Use menu to select)
Affect/Dominate Mind: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick and hold until you’re able to persuade the enemy to join you. Once they do, they will protect you until it’s affects are gone. Duration depends on how long you hold trigger, and upgrade.
(Use menu to select)
Beast Mind Trick: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick and hold until you’re able to control beast. Once they do, they will protect you until it’s affects are gone. Duration depends on how long you hold trigger, and upgrade.
(Use menu to select)
Force Suppression/Breach: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick and hold until you’re able to suppress a random enemy force power. An upgrade to Breach would suppress more than one random force powers. Holding trigger longer, also allows you to suppress their power longer.
(Use menu to select)
Battle Meditation: Click both thumb sticks; it will weaken your enemies, but strengthen you and your allies.
(Use menu to select)
Absorb Force: Click both thumb sticks; your force points will now increase if you’re attacked by force. Plus you will gather more force energy if you pull right trigger.
(Use menu to select)
Stun/Stasis/Stasis Field: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick and hold until you’re able to stun your enemy, or enemies depending on how long you hold trigger.
(Use menu to select)
Breathe Control: Click both thumb sticks; your force points will now increase which has high levels of oxygen supply. Also expands lungs making it more efficient with greater resistance to smoke/gas.
(Use menu to select)
Stun/Disable/Destroy Droid: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick and hold until you’re able to stun enemy droid.
(Use menu to select)
Force Aura/Shield/Amour: Click both thumb sticks to activate force shield to protect you against blaster bolts, grenades, and even a lightsaber.
(Use menu to select)
Force Resurrection: Click both thumb sticks to pull in force which will resurrect all dead party members.
(Use menu to select)
Force Valour: Click both thumb sticks to pull force around your party to increase attributes. While the party is surrounded by higher concentration of force the party becomes more resistant to damage including poison. At master valour the party is immune to poison cause of the extreme high concentration of force energy protecting the party.
(Use menu to select)
Force Cure/Heal: Click both thumb sticks to heal yourself from wounds. Force Heal will heal the entire party not just you, including any kind of poison/gas.
(Use menu to select)
Force Wound/Choke/Kill/Crush: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick to begin slowly constricting the enemy. (Can also target specific parts of the body with choke and kill) Kill will target all nearby enemies, by slowly levitating them in the air and choking random/selected body parts. Crush will not target any specific body part, but rather crush the entire body like a tooth paste. The longer the right trigger is held you’ll move from wound to choke to kill, and eventually crush.
(Use menu to select)
Force Slow/Affliction/Plague: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick to send burst of force energy that clouds the enemy mind weakening their attributes. Affliction will poison them, severely affecting their lungs and heart. Plague will seriously affect their attributes, as they’d no longer will be able to breathe, see, hear, and die very quickly from disease. Plus they may vomit too, I’d avoid anyone whose being plagued.
(Use menu to select)
Force Fear/Horror/Insanity: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick to send burst of force energy in whatever direction you wish to attack the enemies mind. Fear will result in enemy fleeing. Horror may paralyze the enemies. Insanity will result in them going completely crazy!
(Use menu to select)
Force Shock/Lightning/Storm: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick to pulse electricity through the enemy. Holding the trigger longer will result in you sending larger, more powerful bolts of electricity through all the enemies, eventually resulting in a huge and extremely powerful lightning storm. Don’t expect to find any remains but ashes in a lightning storm.
(Use menu to select)
Force Drain Life/Death Field: Hold right trigger to gather force; then push right thumb stick to tap into the enemy’s life points to heal yourself. Death field will tear all surrounding enemies life points out to heal you. Also expect slimy, bloody remains when you walk away.
Force Powers Used Automatically
Force Deflection/Re-Direct: Will not be controlled manually. Upgrading the lightsaber crystal hilt, dexterity, and force (in particular force affinity) and saber form will increase your defence and offence with it.
Force Bomb: The Ultimate force attack. The player gathers planets worth of force energy to blast a moon size amount of destructive energy.
Force Powers Used Automatically During Battle, But Can Also Be Used Manually When Not in Combat
Force Sense: You’re able to sense any attacks when force focus is activated, letting you see weaknesses in enemy stance, technique and body. Plus you can see through walls and other objects. Also force mastery and affinity will increase your sense.
Affect/Dominate Mind: Can be used in conversation. Nothing new really.
Force Powers Used In Saber Combat

Force Rage: Hold X button to power up and strike enemy with a huge combination. During rage, you receive almost no damage, but you lose some vitality points, and huge amount of force points, however, all your attributes are multiplied.
Force Powers Not Used For Combat
Force Precognition: The force gives hints regarding the past/future in forms of disturbances in some areas that you can sense, and visions.

and that's officially the longest post i've ever seen on any forum anywhere. needless to say, i didn't feel like reading the whole thing, sorry. and i know you tried your best, but try improving free-form charts. the whole Force Form thing looked a bit confusing, since some of the "good" and "fairs" and whatever else seemed to be under the forms they weren't meant for.
anyway, in terms of the controls, it seems to me like you're trying to turn the controls into some kind of mix of Jedi Academy and the RotS game, part of it being the jumping. as much as i wouldn't mind more than the Force Jump attack in the game, i doubt free-roam jumping will be put into the game.

I was thinking the same. I liked the whole turn-based select and click approach - and I'm on x-box. Strategy comes much more into it than how quickly you can press a button. Probably why I had a problem with Jedi Academy I guess - as much as there were all those different lightsaber attacks, it all seemed to end up madly pressing buttons and flahsing lights to me.

yep, JA was definitely a lot of flailing around and hoping for the best (unless you use blasters), but i still found it rather entertaining. but yes, i prefer strategy from turn-based games, even though real time is more realistic. that is probably part of the reason why i like Final Fantasy Xbigredpanda wrote:I was thinking the same. I know, i had more, but was forced to delete some of it.Darth Valthri wrote:and that's officially the longest post i've ever seen on any forum anywhere.

I wasn't expecting anybody to read the whole thing. But my head was full of too much SW, i just wanted to dump it all in one page. And i don't like missing anything... but it happened anyway, as i couldn't type up more than 1,000 words. I was planning 10,000 :mischief:
and i know you tried your best, but try improving free-form charts.
I only typed that up cause it was starting to hurt my head... More ideas are filling my head even as i type! Hey if you want more? :speech:
the whole Force Form thing looked a bit confusing, since some of the "good" and "fairs" and whatever else seemed to be under the forms they weren't meant for.
Force form was actually copied from SW KOTOR 2 information, so i suppose you didn't understand it. It may have confused you, but it's not wrong.
anyway, in terms of the controls, it seems to me like you're trying to turn the controls into some kind of mix of Jedi Academy and the RotS game, part of it being the jumping.
It's a mix of Jedi Academy, KOTOR, Force Unleashed, Elder Scrolls, Mortal combat alliance, and Revenge of the Sith.
as much as i wouldn't mind more than the Force Jump attack in the game, i doubt free-roam jumping will be put into the game.
If it's not put into the game, then the game will suck. I hate turn based combat... I prefer:
Force unleashed: Force use
Jedi Academy and Revenge of the Sith: Saber combat
Mortal Combat: Change of stance and technique.
Elder Scrolls: Size of world to perform these powers
bigredpanda wrote:I was thinking the same. I liked the whole turn-based select and click approach
It's alright for PC, but not for consoles because we're playing a combat game and it's far better making it feel like combat game.
and I'm on x-box.
I have used X Box as an example because it has only been on XBOX... it can quite easily be a PS3 or X BOX 360 game. However, PC... i don't mind if it's eventually on it, but, i want it to be primarily a console game, and the controls fit for a console player. After all KOTOR was orginally created to be played on X BOX.
Strategy comes much more into it
I like strategy too. That's why i want party combinations, and commands, like army games, as you'll see if you look back at my post. However, i want to be in total command of the player, and i personally want to be responsible for every move. Saber, and force.
than how quickly you can press a button. Probably why I had a problem with Jedi Academy I guess - as much as there were all those different lightsaber attacks, it all seemed to end up madly pressing buttons and flahsing lights to me.
That's also why i've added slow motion/bullet time for this, which would help you in fights. Plus i don't want the computer to do everything for me. And i want the fighting to be more tactical even without turn based combat.

Lucasarts would lose a lot of customers if they took K3 away from the PC. i'm sure i'm not the only person who doesn't want to run out and get an xbox or whatever for one game. for the most part, i'm still quite content with Gamecube and PS2, so i'll leave it at that.
by adding jumping in to the game, though, you're almost entirely changing KotOR's play style. after just the first game, jumpless movement pretty much stone-carved the mechanics in my mind

It sorta sounds like you want the game to be a shooter, which isn't the point of the franchise. Its an RPG...personally, I hope it stays that way, and doesn't go the hybrid route like Mass Effect (ugh).
Heck, I'd almost like for them to make part of it more top-down. That way, you could have more NPCs with you at a time. But that's the old school Baldur's Gate player in me being cranky.

If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

sounds to me like you enjoyed Baldur's Gate and didn't enjoy Mass Effect. i confess, i haven't played either. i might check out IGN some time.Nightmare wrote:It sorta sounds like you want the game to be a shooter, which isn't the point of the franchise. yes, i would like to have more NPCs with me at times. although i'd like to be able to have more all the time, even a couple events would be nice. for example, with the onderon event (both parts). yeah, you got a little bit of backup in Iziz, but really, what are the chances of someone defeating almost an entire army or 2 with just 2 significant others helping them?

I know the game developers will lose money if it's not on PC. What did i say? I said i don't mind if it's on PC as long as the developers design the game for a console player on the console version. Because, frankly i felt like i was nothing but a spectator when the duels began. I get the feeling that the developers are doing this so it would be easier to convert it into a PC version.Darth Valthri wrote:Lucasarts would lose a lot of customers if they took K3 away from the PC. i'm sure i'm not the only person who doesn't want to run out and get an xbox or whatever for one game. for the most part, i'm still quite content with Gamecube and PS2, so i'll leave it at that.

To make next gen games anything that doesn't work or can be improved needs to be changed. GTA games do this in every new gen game, why does KOTOR have such annoyingly slow developers? Not willing to change things to improve the overal game!
Nightmare wrote:It sorta sounds like you want the game to be a shooter, which isn't the point of the franchise. Its an RPG...personally, I hope it stays that way, and doesn't go the hybrid route like Mass Effect (ugh).
No i don't want this game to be a first person shooter, ok, i do want it to have first, 3rd person shooting in this game. But it will still be primarily a RPG because there will be a lot of role playing, especially when you're fighting, and you will take direct control of your created characters.
To make the perfect SW game, the developers got to go the hybrid route, because it will make it all so much more enjoyable. I want the developers to take good ideas off other games in the same way rockstar does with GTA.... Do you think everything in GTA is completely new? If you play them you'll see that everything or almost everything has already been on other games, but rockstar have put it into one game and developed it more than any other game to make it fun to play.
