What are guilds?

Hey people! the mmorpg virgin here! lol :laugh:
Just wanted to ask... wat ae guilds? wat do you do in them? why do you need to join them?

Guilds are a group of people banding together under a common name in a MMO.
It can be either a group of friends playing together, a group of players sharing a common goal and so on.
Why one needs to join? Well - you don't - however in MMO certain tasks and quests and dungeons are usually too powerful for players to solo, and then it is a good thing to have a guild to play with.

I shall be Dark Lord when the game is released. To join my faction you must be EVIL but only the top 2 players will have the title of DARTH... I will almost certainly be ranked 1st.
