About multiclass HP's per level... again

Post by Jimwth »

Ok, so I've finally decided to play the good ol' game again as a multiclass fighter/mage/cleric half-elf. Never picked a multiclass character before and here comes my problem: I start the game with 11 HP (I have 18 CON) and just don't understand where did they come from.
I've tried to search the forums and through google and found the answer: fighter basic HP 1d10/3=3 and 1/3 roll down to 3 + mage 1D4/3=1 and 1/3 roll down to 1 + cleric 1d8/3=2,66 roll down to 2 and the total is 6 HP. There's also a CON bonus of +4 HP. As I understand it, it also divides by 3 (number of classes). So I get +1 HP per class but I also sum the remainders of dividing 4 by 3 (4/3=1 and 1/3): 1 HP for FTR + 1 HP for mage + 1 HP for cleric + 1/3x3 remainders and the total is 4 HP. Here we go: 6 HP form basic class dice rolls + 4 HP CON bonus = 10 HP. My question is where is the last one HP?
Sorry if this is a difficult to understand explanation but I tried my best :o

Fighter/mage/cleric gets (10+4+8):3=7,33... = 7 HP per level. Add the con bonus and you get 7 + 4 = 11 HP.
Fighter/mage/thief gets (10+4+6):3=6,66... = 6 HP per level. Add the con bonus and you get 6 + 4 = 10 HP.

How exactly the hitpoints are distributed among the classes can be tested at level up. If you install a mod which guarantees max HP at level up you'll know the exact numbers even without reloading.

I'm pretty sure that if your Playing TuTu or SoA/ToB that you get Max HP at level up if you drop the difficulty level to easy before leveling up. I don't think that works in BGI or ToTSC however.
:) Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL :)

All right, thank you all, I guess I'll install tutu now and see.
Fighter/mage/cleric gets (10+4+8):3=7,33... = 7 HP per level. Add the con bonus and you get 7 + 4 = 11 HP.
Fighter/mage/thief gets (10+4+6):3=6,66... = 6 HP per level. Add the con bonus and you get 6 + 4 = 10 HP.
Kmonster, I guess this makes sense, because cleric class basically has more HP than thief, but I thought that basic class HP's are divided separately then they're always rolled down and then the results are summed up, like I mentioned before.
