As the only other evil characters come as part of a twosome, I'd suggest Garrick, or of you want another tank, Safana. Faldorn would have been a logical choice, but she comes fairly well into the game.

You could kill Montoron off and keep Xzar. That would add another caster to your party.
Like galraen said Garrick is easily had early on and he's pretty usefull with the crossbow of speed and a few wands.
Brawen is a Nuetral cleric you can pick up early but you've already got Viconia.

clerics are pretty powerful casters in bg1, hold person and ani dead alone make them worthwhile. having an extra healer can be aces as well.Jordoo wrote:You could kill Montoron off and keep Xzar. That would add another caster to your party.

I agree with galraen in taking Garrick. Bards are powerful characters which can easily adapt to any situation that the game may throw you in. They can be a behind the lines spell-flinger and archer a melee tank or even a party-buffer so that Edwin can focus his spell slots on something else. Don't forget to give your casters some wands! They are very important!
I personally use clerics as front line fighters anyway. But don't forget about Tiax, he's can serve as an alternative to the drow, although his stats are far from ideal. While his strength may be low, he can become a decent fighter depending on item and spell choice, not to mention that his special ability can help in a good amount of fights. I can completely understand if you skip him though as you already have a thief type as your main character.
Actually, if you take a look at his stats, you'll see that has has an ideal constitution of 16 and only three points less dexterity than Viconia who does have more Wisdom than he. You can give backstabbing a try as the damage bonus received from his buffs is made significant through the backstab multiplier.
