Hello.
I want to create a maximum character. How do i go about leveling up my attributes and skills so they are maximum. What is the best way?
Also, i think in the "attribute" section of the DS site, should contain what % of attribute is leveled up as you do each skill.
Example:
Melee - Str 75% / Dex 20% / Int 5%
Ranged - Str 30% / Dex 65% / Int 5%
Combat Magic - Str 10% / Dex 5% / Int 85%
Nature Magic - Str 5% / Dex 10% / Int 85%
Note: The above numbers are completely fictional.
Lastly, items that increase your stats. Do they affect the experience/level up of your attributes? The grey level up bar (attributes and skills) seems to suggest they do, as equipping / unequipping stat items increases or decreases this grey bar. However, i am not certain. Could this be tested in any way?
Thank you.
Summary:
- Advice on leveling up attributes and skills (the do's and don'ts, if any)
- Does Stat items (those that increase, or decrease skills and attributes) affect there leveling up?
(the grey-bar of the experience in each skill/attribute, seems to suggest they do)
- Could you add a section to the Attribute page on the DS portion of the site, containing %'s that the attributes increase as you use skills.
Example: Strength increases more in melee, than dex and int. But what is the % of distribution between the attributes. And how do they differ between which skills you use.

Attribute increase %s
Hello again Lady Sophia,
I keep having problems - like being made to log in again - when posting replies. If this goes in it will be third time lucky.
Tom Church's long walkthrough (for example) has the numbers you want; no point my duplicating it here. A Google search for Dungeon Siege walkthrough should turn up several sites with copies of it. There are other articles and tips on leveling up out there too. I've spent happy hours exploring around from site to site.
I take it you just want as quickly as possible to get a new character up to where your old one was. Which skills? Fighter, archer, mage, multi-skilled?
happy hunting, Richard

P.S. what grey bars?
I know the grey background that rises up weapon and spell slots as skills approach the next level increase. Never noticed that change with different items. I mean, if melee skill is 10.25 and I equip something that adds 1 to melee skill, won't that just make 11.25 so the bar will be exactly the same as before? And don't remember attribute-increasing items making any difference to skill levels.
Are there grey bars for str/dex/int too? Where? Tell, tell!

Character Screen...
Hello.
I shall have a look for this walkthrough you mentioned. I know i have seen something similar to what it is that i described in my other post, i originally thought it was on this site, but it isn't (hence why i made a point of mentioning something which could be added ).
As for the Grey Bars, there on the Character Screen. You open up the character inventory, you can see your characters Attributes (Str/Dex/Int) and Skills (Melee/Range/Combat/Nature). Well, you have a grey bar which increases as these level up on that screen. You've probably seen what it is i mean, i'm just bad at explaining it.
It seems if i add Stat or Skill items to my character, those grey bars increase/decrease accordingly. So, i was wondering, why do they increase/decrease. Why should those grey bars move at all? Thus, i wondered if it affected leveling up.
You know, a kind of penalty for having stat items. "You have higher strength, but at the cost of experience to strength" (ie, strength levels up slower than normal, but you gain the benefit of wearing heavier armour, dealing more damage, etc).
I don't know, i could be completely wrong and it could be nothing more than cosmetic without any influence on mechanics at all. I just wanted to know if anyone has tested it. Because if it did penalise you for increasing your stats, then i would stay away from stat items like the plague (i like to level up to max).
Is that helpful? If not, i'll try and get screenshots or something.

Hello. Grey bars, Thank you. Items increasing stats
Those grey bars on Strength etc have been right in front of me all the time I played and I never noticed them. Shows how much I still don't know about the game.
OK, I've added and removed various items that improve stats (Ring of Hardiness for just one example) and my grey bars don't change. Which is what I'd expect. The only exception is those deep purple imbued items such as ones Of Ogre's Might which you remember I'd already concluded gets better not in whole Strength levels but by fractions.
So I'd say, go ahead and tool your character up to the max, it won't slow down your development. Except of course that the quicker you kill something and the less damage you take doing so, the less opportunity to earn magic skill experience points from self-healng afterwards! But of course you can get round that by going in with healing spell selected and get hurt for a bit without fighting back.
regards, Richard

True true. I won't hassle admin for an update. However, i'm going to use this forum for keeping tabs on my progress. I recently lost the first list i made, which has annoyed me somewhat, so i thought i'll make a record here.
So far, i'm just listing what spells go with what items. I haven't bothered with ranges yet, though i can easily find out the maximum values for them (though at what level they max out, will have to wait until a second play through).
======================================
Spell (Item Slot)
Magic Armour (Head, Body, Shoes, Gloves, Shield)
Life Force (Melee, Ranged)
Anchored Shot (Ranged)
Range Boost (Ranged)
Ogres Might (Body, Shoes, Gloves, Ring, Amulet)
Mystic Aid (Body)
Spirit Armour (Body, Shield)
Clean Strike (Melee)
======================================
Magic Armour (Nature) - Increases AC
Spirit Armour (Combat) - Increases AC
Life Force (Nature) - Increases Melee Damage vs Undead
Range Boost (Nature) - Increases Range of a Ranged Weapon
Ogres Might (Combat) - Increases Strength
Anchored Shot (Nature) - Raises Ranged Chance to Hit
Clean Strike (Nature) - Raises Melee Chance to Hit
Mystic Aid (Nature) - Raises Melee and Ranged Chance to Hit
======================================
I did find more than that, but like i said, i lost the notes (i think they were binned when my mum tidied up the study). In any case, i'll keep you posted. Feel free to add to the list. In particular, if anyone knows the maximum values for the imbued spell list, then please add that as well.
Thank you.
