CD Rom issues

I seem to be having trouble with my CD drive. I was wondering if there was a way to install D2 where the drive was not required. If so will I lose any info with the re-install? I'm not concerned about single player characters but I would hate to lose any B-Net characters.
Success takes commitment. In a bacon and eggs breakfast the chicken is involved but the pig is committed...be the pig!!!

D2 can work fine without a CD. Install the latest patch and copy a few files from the CD. I think the patch notes can tell you which ones. B-net characters don't disappear and you can save SP characters as well by just copying the files.
