Romance possible with other npc than Bastila?

Post by byf43 »

Hey, I've been away from this forum and Kotor for a looong time :) So please excuse me if I ask for something that's already been up.

Basically I'd like to play through Kotor again. Playing as a male will I be able to go into a romance with other npcs than Bastila? I remember having conversation options that made it seem possible. However at the time I wanted Bastila so I didn't pay attention. Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Without mods, no. The option to romance Juhani was removed by BioWare prior to the final version of the game.

Ok thanks for the help.

Can I sneek in an additional question? What about Kotor 2? Who can I romance there? I remember trying with Mira (and doing well) but suddenly she got stuck in the same reply every time I tried. Who can be romanced?

I'd like to explore this when playing through a second time.

As a female, you can romance Disciple and I *think* somewhat with Atton, though I might be mistaken about that. As a male, you can romance the Handmaiden and sort of Visas. You can try to pursue it with Mira, but she'll have none of it.
Romances in the second game are a little different, in that they're more unspoken and not really clearly defined. You don't really get anything like Bioware romances in their games; the writer for KotOR 2, Chris Avellone, has admitted that he just doesn't like writing 'traditional' romances like Bioware does.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. Hmm Chris Avellone...didn't I see his name in Fallout 2 when a raider shot at me? Didn't know he also did Kotor.

He didn't. He was the lead designer for KotoR 2. They were made by entirely different companies.

But Avellone is probably best known for what some people (including myself) consider the best RPG ever made, Planescape: Torment.

Looked it up on wookieepedia (: rolleyes :) and she's 14 at the moment of KOTOR. So... You know, like definitely not a romance option :p

IINM the Juhani romance was taken out prior to the game's official release

nope, it's there in unmodded, unpatched version. I did hear something about a bug which unintentionally made her bi instead of lesbian though which caused some confusion

How can you be sure? Do we know what the age of consent is on Taris, or amongst Twi'leks? And how long is a year on her homeworld? She could be 96 in human terms!

A year was a measurement of time on the Galactic Standard Calendar, consisting of 10 months. Wookiepedia

So, 14 in SW years = 140 in SW months.

A month was a period of time, measured by 35 days (7 weeks of 5 days) instead of 30 Wookiepedia (DAMN YOU GEORGE LUCAS !)

So, 140 * 35 = 4900 days.

Assuming a day is the same length there as here

=> 4900 / 365,25 days =13.415 years if she lived on planet earth.

I think i did the calculation correct...

I seriously need to find other stuff to do :p

I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this, and this was the closest topic I could find that relates to my question...

but it would seen that some how on my most recent play through (as a male) it somehow glitched and gave me Carth as my love interest (is that even possible)

come to think of it even back on Taris, I triggered the male off duty sith officer in the cantina instead of the female one

I noticed Bastila's lack of interest in me (thought it was just cause I was playing on the darkside) but then started to notice some of Carth's dialogue was different and getting kinda weird (I've played a female before, but haven't in a long time, so I know he is the love interest for the female character, but don't remember all the lines) but it seems like some of the same he would say

anyway, will this effect the out come of the game at all?

I am intrigued. I wonder, does this mean that Carth will be abducted my Malak? That you'll fight him on the temple mount, and force him to become your lover and apprentice?

If so, would you please please please take a screenshot?

(In all seriousness, that sounds like a really odd bug. Have you installed any mods?)

I played a female character and tried to be as nice, sweet, and flirtatious as possible in my responses to Carth, but it seems that after Leviathon he seems totally uninterested.

I guess he's not interested in a woman with a "past", lol.
