Dungeons & Dragons on the Microsoft Surface - D&D surface - Gizmodo
Though most likely with a 3D surface.
The Future of D&D.
On one hand.. It may kill some of the RP atmosphere of the last stand of Pen and paper games..
On the other hand.. I want one!
getting through dozens of books, piles of loose pages and searching the dices that someone has thrown behind the bed (once again!) sure may be fun, but this surface is awesome!

It wouldn't be that difficult to go 3D (..though the off-set viewing angle would require polarized lens glasses tech currently available), or setup an overhead camera to detect the dice roll (and do the action sequence).
I could envision pubs with these tables.. Grab a bite to eat there, stay for the drinks and the gaming.
