Children

Post by Fljotsdale »

Are there any mods that add children to the NPCs?

It always annoys me that there is not a single child in Oblivion, despite all the married couples, and the beggars regularly saying 'Me children are starving, please help'. No children in the streets or houses is unnatural, and I have never liked it.

Yeah, ok so it's a game... how many games DO have kids, after all... but it looks so odd without 'em!

Like streets with roads and pavements when there is nothing to use the roads. Even horses are not allowed in the towns.

Check out moDems City Life. It adds quite a few NPC's to each city, including children.
There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't.
I think I think, therefore I might be.

Of course horses aren't allowed in towns, how could they be when there's no kids to run behind scooping up the droppings so they can sell it as manure; like we did as kids.

No kids I suspect because of paranoia over the fact that if there were then players would be able to kill them and the 'Shock, horror, Games are Evil' brigade would have another stick to beat us with. Throw in the fact that nude mods would give them even more ammunition and before you know it the games on the banned list and we are all getting tossed on the bonfire on Guy Fawkes night!

I had also thought that with video game laws being what they were in places like Europe where it is not permissible for children to be harmed in game. oblivion is supposedly a sandbox game where the player can do anything. I think Bethsoft made a choice between tagging all kids as unkillable or not having them in the game.

I think lazy won out and they just decided to leave kids out. The mods arguement is good one as well but certainly Bethsoft knew that mods would put in what they would not so they just did not bother. Seems to fit their development style. The stories tend to suck a bit in their games, so the player makes their own. They don't want to put hoards of unkillable children in their game so th e players make their own.

missed the guy Fawkes night reference galrean, love it. I would not mind seeing one of those, But I do not care to go to Newfoundland(closest place hereabouts that celebrates it) just to see it.
