map blackout

hi i am very new to witcher,but i have looked for answers to these guestions what is,are,how "use obiect panel".Also why does my map go black, little locators are there but streets are black?Is this a game bug,am i not moving quick,could that be it ,help please

For the object panel, you drag something from your inventory to the box icon in the middle of the screen. If it is the correct item, whatever the "object" does will happen. Only items that can be used will be highlighted.

The map thing is a glitch. The only way I have found to deal with it is to save and reload.
