Soloing?
Soloing?
I know a lot of people went solo through BG2.
Did anyone go solo in BG1?
Is it theoreticaly possible?

@Angelus...with the cap and your right it was a Paladin. I admit I was after the books
...(Didn't know about CLUAConsole at the time
)
I ended up going thru BG1 3 times...then three more after I bought ToSC.

Ha Ha take imoen down south (not sure were but 1, 2 down left on the map and down a bit tet imoen to kiss the siren(resulting in imoen dying) and the siren will suck up to you then kill it (other chose is to summen an ogre mage get lots of exp either way JUST for you and siren ez to beat and the "run around whilt imoen shoots at the enemy" trick works well in BG1

I went through BG1 many times alone (discussion about soloing and overpowered characters) with cleric PC, so I thing all classes could do it without problems. It is even easier to do it with other clases in BG1 than in BG2 - there are no instant death spells, contingency seqencers etc.
So sayeh

I went through with a solo Thief. I had exported him from previous games, but it was still solo.
Once he had Shadow Armour and Short Sword of Backstabbing +3 things got a little easier.
That thief became my assassin in BG2... twas a grand adventure.

Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't get all 25 for my stats... that's just kinda crap. Defeats the whole point. I went through with the same character twice. Hence getting 20 for dexterity. But that's as high as I went.
Solo has its advantages, especially as a thief. Sneak all the time... but the party has it's fun too.
I remember creating a complete multiplayer party... 1 ranger, 1 paladin, 1 fighter, 1 thief, 2 mages (opposite schools so I could have all magic)
Was fun!
Much more than soloing too.

I soloed it with a paladin, from scratch, using tomes but honestly (no stats higher than 19). It was pretty difficult at first, but things smoothed out after about level 3. As for the final fight, it was not too bad. Load up on every potion in the book and pound on Sarevok and only Sarevok. I was down to single digit HP at the end, but he still fell before me.
Actually, the single toughest moment in the whole game was getting past those lightning traps with skeleton warriors in the thieves' maze.
At game's end I had full plate +1, Spiderbane, morning star +1, long bow of marksmanship, boots of speed, ring of fire protection, ring of energy, shield amulet, gauntlets of weapon expertise, helm of balduran, cloak of balduran, and a handsome aresenal of arrows. Makes for a seriously tough paladin, even with the experience cap.

I soloed most of the game with my fighter, I just stocked up on alot of healing potions etc. I also had all my skill points into bows since bows were really good then. I remember getting criticals for over 40 with bows.
After a while I got bored and added a mage, then I made a complete party.
There are very few mages, and they didn't have many powerful spells.

i never thought soloing bg1 without capkill was possible, anyone have tried it with a mage? it looks impossible in the begginning it may get better in the middle of the game since you will have maxed the xp cap but when you reach chapter4/5 it will be impossible, and in the battle with sarevok? a level 7 mage against sarevokand his party of level 9 + mages tasok , sarevok alone would be impossible because of his magic resistance 100%

My favourite tactic in BG1 was to solo all the way up to about Cloakwood (Ch 4). It was harder but the rest of the game became much easier and more enjoyable as a result - the protagonist levelled up heaps by that point, and you could pick and choose where you wanted to explore instead of crawling all over the Sword Coast in a desperate quest for XPs. These games were shorter as a result - 40 to 50 game days as opposed to 90 - 100.
