I'm pretty sure the patches have balanced out the difficulty. I've found that "normal" is fine for me, it's still quite challenging in some areas, but certainly not to the point of being frustrating.

I finished the game unpatched in the normal difficulty setting. I found that it was a "healthy challenge" and that now I am ready to try another playthrough in the hard difficulty. I think that you should avoid playing the game on "easy" or in the mild- patched form of "normal" because then the element of strategy is somewhat lost...

In other words, from ,my experience, the patched-normal version is easier.

I agree with you elveros. As an RPG and the way the fighting is it should require some sort of strategy. I just beat the game on normal with a dalish rouge elf. It wasn't really hard but it did get difficult on some areas :eek: but other then that it was an enjoyable game.
