Okay so I know that everyone is tired of posts like this but I really can't seem to get this to work.
My pictures are .bmp files, they're the right size, their names are blueL.bmp and blueS.bmp so I'm pretty sure the names are right, they're in C:/Program Files/Black Isle/Icewind Dale II.
I restarted the game since I put the pictures in the folder and clicked on "Custom" when I was making my character. Nothing shows up in the custom menu. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure this solution will work for you, but I recall the last time I had that problem (and bear in mind it's been a long time since I've played the game), I simply renamed the custom portraits.
I think there is a length limit to portrait names in the game, so if they have a long string of numbers, letters etc. they won't appear.

I'm not sure but, try making the first letter a capital one. I've just looked in my directory and all my custom portraits are named that way.

The sub-folder in the "Icewind Dale II" folder needs to be named "portraits". (Don't capitalize it to "Portraits", as this can cause problems, IIRC.)
It's not necessary to capitalize the first letter of the portrait filenames. It may be necessary to capitalize the "S" or "L", though I don't know.
