Near Infinity question - Purified Sword of Arvoreen?

Post by Ode to a Grasshopper »

Hey all.
Following the much-appreciated advice about the Dwarven Thrower+3 I have downloaded Near Infinity, and aside from a few teething hassles it's all going well. I've mostly been altering NPC weapons/items to be more useful and fit better with my Level 1 NPC take on the characters.
As part of this I've tried to add the Purifier +5 effects to the Sword of Arvoreen so paladin Mazzy has a suitably Paladin-y weapon, but here my limited (copy+paste effect) skills let me down a little and I don't seem to be able to get the Dispel Magic and Mass Cure spells to actually work (and I'm not sure about the bonus vs. Chaotic Evil either). The spells show up and when you rest they get memorized, but when she casts them there's no casting graphic and they don't seem to have any effect.

Is there anything other than just plain copying and pasting the spell effects over that I should be doing to get this to work?

Now, I know absolutely NOTHING about this sort of thing, but have just replied to Jouke's thread on creating items. I also had alot of trouble setting 'on hit' or 'once per day' capabilities. I was using DLTCEP though. I found that the simplest way of doing this was to use an item that already had these capabilities, and then add all the fluff around it. Can you customise exsisting items? Could you start with the purifier, then add the sword of avoreen description, restrictions, graphics?

You're probably WAY ahead of me, but that's my extremely limited advice.

What I'm trying is opening the Sword of Arvoreen and the Purifier+5, and copying and pasting what I assume are the effects from Purifier to the Sword of Arvoreen. Things like use restrictions and magic resistance are pretty easy, but the spells per day is stumping me.
I'm almost done with everything I want changed, going by Solaufein in the other thread I might try IEEP instead.
Ta. :)

Yeah when I was using DLTCEP I was constantly thinking: "Why isn't this MUCH easier?" So I suppose that other programs would probably be better. Sorry I wasn't much help, good luck with that sword!
