Save/Load game issues.

Post by CanadianF13nD »

IWD Save/Load game issues.

Ok so i decided after many many years to bring out the old games and play through them again. Started getting into Icewind Dale all over again but then I started having problems. I save the games, no errors popping up or anything, then I will shut off my computer for a little break. Turn computer back on and run IWD where upon I cannot load my saved games. No matter which saved game I choose it just starts the game over from the start. In the actual load game screen it says I have 6 games but if I actually go to the saved game folder is only has 2-3 saved games.

Need help, these old games are the only reason I bought my new laptop for C's sake.

Ok it seems my problem has developed further. Now I reinstalled it and I can only load one game, even though I did not load that particular save. Seems as though no matter which saved game I try to load it just loads the same one over and over again.

Hmm... what are your system specs, OS, graphics card etc?

Knowing this may help to diagnose your problem.

Also, if you have a newer computer, you may also want to check out the sticky thread at the top of this page, it's possible you'll find a solution on there.

btw, welcome to Game Banshee :)

* AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor and 3GB of RAM
* 320GB hard drive
* Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Well it seems the problem has been fixed, I think it may have been a corrupted saved game file or something. Deleted all the saved games and re-installed, the full install not the recommended, and now it is working fine. Sorry I did not post any info on my laptop, brain fart on my end.

Thanks for the welcome, did not even realize that BG and IWD were still this big but can totally understand why. Best games ever made.

I'm still on Vista so not sure about W7 but I had a similar issue with BG2 and appears it was because I was not running the program as administrator.
