Red aura people

I just started this game, so I'm learning, but I hit the bully to save the little boy, and now everyone has red around them, and no one will talk to me. What do I do now?
Also, can I only enter buildings that the door is open, or can I open doors?

Did the bully run away? It's possible you've encountered a bug.

If you can interact with the doors, then eventually you can learn some thief skills that will get you through.

The bully said he was sorry, the little boy gave me his teddy bear, so I'm not sure what's going on. I am going to try this again today, maybe it was just a bug. hope so.

Did you accidentally hit someone else? I've done that (though with a different quest) and had everyone go red aura on me. I went back to a savegame and did it over.
