"I done had enough of this"

Post by Abecedarian »

Well, I finished BG/TOSC and was left with only a few disappointments/mysteries:

1) The manual devotes some space to describing the mysterious elfsong that permeates the tavern of that name, but you learn right away (if you talk to Alyth, the owner) that the song has mysteriously vanished. I assumed it would be restored in the game, but it never was. Strange...

2) Sarah, the ambassador from Amn, upstairs in an inn with two bodyguards...seems to have no purpose at all. I was sure there would be a quest involving her. I wonder if they left it out.

3) That cute little girl is still hoping her kitty-cat would join her soon. But there's no way to get it out of the house. (I charmed it, but it won't go downstairs.) Restoring the girl's cat, instead of just giving her the ring, would have given me at least as much satisfaction as did killing Sarevok. (Whoever made us walk through that eternal maze in the thieves' basement should be hit with a few Magic Missiles...) :)

Oh, well, on the BGII. (I played it halfway through first, but now I can continue with the same character--and about 25 more HP to start.)

PS - Did anyone besides me ever drop Coran from the party simply because they could not stand hearing him say "Luck, be a lady" one more time?

Sure you got everything there buddy ;)

Yep, that about the Elfsong always bugged me - I assumed it was a quest.

I dropeed Coran b/c by the time you get him he has 80-odd or 100 in stealth. With all the stealth equipment and the ability to dual Imoen to a mage, that's just a waste.

EDIT - BTW, describe your character please.

I did exactly the same thing as you - got half way thru BG2, decided to re-do BG1 with a thief dualled to a fighter at level 5.

Oh and he's annoying :D

My main character, Branlor, is a nice ordinary chaotic good Fighter. (I want to get the Nalia's Estate quests in BGII--my first character there was a Paladin, and I got very tired of being a selfless noble knight for picayune rewards--heck, I was never even made a full member of the Order). I think Branlor will be a Berserker in BGII.
