Autosave crashing

Post by Meedly »

For some reason, my autosave just started crashing today. Sometimes it's a CTD, other times it just hangs at the beginning of the progress bar.

Some crashes give me the following error message:

"An assertion failed in d:\dev\Buldur\infgame.cpp at line number 5387"

OS Vista 64
Full install

Now none of my savegames will let me change zones.

Is there a fix, or possibly a way to disable the autosave function?

Sidenote: tried following the steps to enable the cheat console listed in the sticky above. No dice. Is there a more detailed explanation somewhere?

Are you in Beregost? There is a known bug that sometimes causes saves there to crash. Have you got a save game that was saved outside of Beregost?

I have a saved game on Nashkel mines map. Got the same problem. I have seen that it could be because the disc is scratched because the rom doesn't even whir up when I try to leave the screen. I then get the same error message. I have also gotten an unhandled win32 exception occured in BGMain.exe[7996] error. I have now just reinstalled just on the c drive and not in the Program files folder, which was another suggestion. I let you know what happens. The game ran fine, but after I quit, couldn't auto-save or save. Could quick save, but couldn't leave the screen. If there is a fix for this, it would be much appreciated. I have a Vista 32 machine.
