Requiem of the Sylvans at Kyr

Post by Siberys »

Since the other play by post game seems to be going fairly well all things considered, I thought I'd open this one up to the public. It's a 4 character game, and one spot has already been taken by an Elven Cleric of Corellon.

The other three spots are first come first serve so if you're interested in this type of game, feel free to join! :)

Backstory-

In the 5th age of man, all denizens and races have become scattered across the world. Each nation home to a single race or heritage of people, closed off from one another, this was deemed the only way to achieve peace by the leaders of the great country of Illapan.

However, trouble seems to be stirring int he great forest of Kyr, home to all manner of sylvan and woodland creatures. On the fateful eve of the full moon, a pair of terrifying warriors came and destroyed the metropolis Kyratha.

Madelin, the leader of Kyratha and a priest of unparalleled power, managed to teleport a few people away from these creatures before all seemed to be lost. Once the attack was over, over 2/3rds of the forest is now ash.

All those that were teleported were transmitted to the fair trade city of Rackul. This city is normally known to humans but many manner of races still visit now and then due to the fine wares that can be bought and sold. And as a free market government, some were even able to take up shelter in this city so long as the price is right.

This presents a small problem though, the idea that money can buy everything allows slavery to exist freely. Refugees and convicts alike can all become slaves without any hesitation whatsoever.

Campaign Info-

~Level- 1
~HP- Max at first level, average afterwards. Average = all number results of your hit dice (D4 meaning 1+2+3+4) divided by that hit dice number, or more simply Half + .5).
~Ability Scores- Point Buy 28 points (located here d20 Point Buy System or in the Dungeon Masters Guide).
~Races/Classes- Core and SRD only please. No psionics. Supplemental rules for existing classes located on the SRD are fine, just run it by me if you choose to use it.
~Prestige Classes- Core, SRD, and Complete Arcane, Divine, Adventurer and Warrior.
~Feats, Skills, Abilities- Core preferably, run it by me if it's from another book.
~Starting Gold- 150

~Special Rule- You must let me know if you are one of the survivors of Kyratha or if you are a citizen of Rackul. As a citizen of Rackul, you can be pretty much any race or anything, but as a citizen of Kyratha, you can be only Sylvan. Though, with that limitation, you have more information on the attack due to being their witnessing the events.

Sylvan Characters include all forms of elves except Drow, as well as Dryads and all 3 forms of Sprites. I probably won't allow Nymphs or any other race with above a +3 level adjustment as a character due to the power difference. Although I'm open to suggestions for weaker forms using the Savage Species rulebook.

I'll definitely take a spot. Please give me a day or so to absorb the campaign setting and plan a character build. At this point, I'm thinking something along the lines of ranger or druid build but I'm not 100% yet.

No problem, game won't start for a while as I'm helping the aforementioned cleric out (she's a bit new to D&D).

~Too high ability scores; you've spent 30 points out of 28 allotted.
~Too many skill points used; 40 point spent out of 36 allotted (that includes your human bonus too)

And don't forget to include Bardic Knowledge, Fascinate, countersong and Inspire Courage.

Still too many on the skill points, you've spent 38 and have 36.

And god help us, he's going to read Spoems! Oh the humanity! :p

Okay, with kozeph the 'spoet' taking a rogue class, and with a max party of 4, we have 2 glaring needs:

1. front line fighter
2. arcane caster

Since I'm torn on which to take, I will build whatever is left...once we get the 4th player and he/she chooses his/her class

Elven cleric and human bard so far.

We need a warrior type and an arcane dude. I'll create whatever is left outstanding.

DM's call but kozeph and I are n00bish, as is the person playing the elvin cleric. So for the time being I prefer not to have my head explode with all the expanded stuff but...like I said...DM's call.

:2 cents

I'd prefer not. Just stick to the guidelines above.

I've deleted all the back and forth between who's in and out due to the unnecessary clutter it presented.

So, Nvlutz is stepping out due to DMing one game and work on top of all that. Makes logical sense.

So currently the game is closed and the players have been selected.

Demortis, Kozeph, RPGguy and the aforementioned cleric of Corellon whenever she registers.

n00b question: since we're doing the point buy-in system for attributes...do race modifiers get applied *after* the purchase? i.e. can i buy up to 16 and then apply +2 attribute bonus to get to 18?

Or do you start at 8, apply race bonuses/penalties and *then* do your buy-in?
