Money Woes!

Post by qwerty1971 »

Why is it so hard to collect money in the game? I do make a concerted effort to strip all fallen foes of their valuables, but I find it does not add up to a lot of money. Is there a secret stash I do not know about? My party is currently on the 2nd Dungeon level and so far i have been able to make 2 gauntlets of ogre power and one +2 magic weapon. I cannot afford to make anything else. I would love to make a set of bracers of defense for my monk , but it costs too much. Do others have the same experience?

D&D is designed (in theory) with a delicate balance of power in mind. Give a party too much money and it greatly increases their power. It goes hand in hand with gaining abilities as you level that you also gain steadily in the gear department. So, while you will gain more and more money as you go along (and putting ranks into appraise helps here, btw, as does selling the right goods to the right merchants), you will not normally be able to make everything you can make for every character. That's just the way the game is built. You want the +4 strength item instead of the +2? Okay, but it costs 4 times as much, so really it's a choice between a +4 and 4 +2's. The latter is the better way to go, until you get more money anyway.

If you can get the console open, there's plenty of gold to give yourself. ;)

(Use the lastest 1.3 build - it's still beta, but stable and far better than 1.2)
