Do you get that error when you go to play it after installing it? When I installed BG on my computer, an error would come up whenever I would try to run the game. I ended up having to do the custom install and leave all of the boxes unchecked. I don't know if your problem is the same one, nor do I know why the problem occurred, but if it is the same one, that is possible way of getting BG to work. The error I had didn't occur when I installed it on my mom's computer.

I THOUGHT I HAD A FIX, BUT DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway the game seems to work if I want to start over, but I am trying to bring my data over from another computer and when i load a game I get

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error

Program C:\ProgramFiles\BlackIsle|Baldur's Gate\BGMain2.exe

abnormal program termination"

I then get my original error(see above)

I can then delete my temp files and start with the visual C++ error.

I have tried bringing the cahce folder over from the other comp. I really don't want to start the game again and I want to be able to bring this party into BG2

Hope there is an answer out there

I would suggest that if you are trying to copy an existing save game from an old computer to a new computer with a full, clean and working install on you need to copy across the following files:

Override
Save

On a side note, and I am not sure if it makes a difference, but do you have the same installation on your new comp as you do on your old ie recommended/recommended as opposed to two different installation types :)

THanks too all! Actually my wife stumbled across the answer when I moved some files for her(yup I'm new to CD-RW and probably too old to be playing this game LOL) But when copying them to a CD the bcome read only. I fixed that on all of the transferred saves and I'm in.
