Help! No HLA's on lvl up!

Post by willsanders84 »

Firstly, thanks guys, you're all BG2 legends.

Secondly, the character I've put my heart an soul into has just become rubbish. I'm a 13/15 beserker/cleric, I've installed ToB, and the patch, but when I lvl up, I don't get any HLA's! I've CLUA consoled extra XP to take me to the next lvl, and the one after that, and that.... and still nothing. Jaheira, Aerie and Imoen are all getting HLA's, why aren't I?

Would really appreciate any help, links to updates, etc etc. I'd rather not use unofficial patches, but if it's the only way...

Thanks

Your character will only receive HLA abilities at three million experience points, which means that for multiclass characters it's the experience sum of their two classes and for dual class characters it means having the second class's experience total being equal to three million for their first HLA.

JUST came back on to reply to my own thread and call myself an IDIOT - like you say, 3 million xp (dual class SUCK!), but you'd beaten me to it.

Thanks Cren, you ARE a legend, and just while I'm here, what are you doing BG2 wise at the moment? Got some sick party combo going?

Dual classes are great, especially because of the bonuses. I also have a character like yours, though it's a Kensai 22/Cleric xx, which I'm currently playing, along with an Illusionist/Thief multiclass, which specializes in Shapechange.

Those playthroughs have been put on hold for a while though since I felt nostalgic and went back to the original BG as well as the first two Fallout games.

Well then there's something unusual about the cleric ranger build because I swear I got my first HLA at around 2.4 million combined XP. I remember being particularly shocked when it happened.

The Cleric/Ranger multiclass is an 'unfixable' bug.

See the fixpack documentation at gibberlings3 for clarification. It CAN be changed, but then it ruins the other cleric/xx combinations, which is seen (rightly so) as a bigger issue. So it stays as it is.

They apparently do not get "extra" HLAs, but just recieve the first one early (2.25 million exp).

HLA's are great, first time I finished I did not have HLA's wich makes the final battle almost impossible! So long live HLA's

HLAs are great. BTW, two days after installing SOA-ToB with my standard mods, the fourth computer in as many months fried itself while turned off...
I must be cursed.
