Minsc is bothering me .. Substitute with who ?

Post by Raistlin »

Until Newerwinter Nights hit the markets , i wanted to go through the saga once more with a half-elven cleric/mage . The problem is the group balance , Since i am doing nothing with my mage/cleric except dying or trying to memorize magic missile , i need some brutal power to help the party .

I was going pretty good until Minsc went berzerk and attacked my party. The reason was obvious : We were late to save her W(B)itch. Actually i don't want to rescue her ,i don't want another weakling in my party and i don't have place for her and i don't want a party of happy couples this time. Jaheira/Khalid , Minsc/Dyaneir, Me/Imoen(!)
If i remove Khalid ,Jaheira follows him , if i remove Minsc ,Dyaneir follows him . Ack!

So , whom should i replace with Minsc .

Desired Party :

Me :Mage/cleric
Jaheria :Fighter/druid
Khalid :fighter
Ajantis :P aladin
Koran :Fighter/thief
Fighter : ?

Note :I am thinking of an evil plan :D .I rescue Minsc's witch .I take her into party then in a battle i somehow forget to heal her .She dies ,I ran away until berzerk state ends i take Koran back into party ..
:D :D

Kill Khalid. Let him die or just whack him with one or your chars. Or do the same thing to Dynaheir. Game doesn't care, why should you??

If you want a warrier, get Kivan. He is good. :)

I agree, get Kivan. He is not as strong as Minsc but he is not as annoying either. Like someone above said, just let the member of the couple you don't want die in battle and then don't ressurect them.

I personally got so sick of the fighter choices in the game that I made my PC the uberfighter that the game wasn't giving me, and it was all dutch after that.

Or kick them out of your party while they are standing alone in some house you will never visit again. They won't be able to come up to you and say they're taking so-and-so with them.

That would be the "nice" way of handling things. :D

Same here... All NPC warriors have either lousy Strength, Hit Points or AC. I mean, Strength 17 for a Paladin doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Coran is better than Kivan.

Xyx, if the NPCs didn't have stats like that, then you're hardly going to feel as if your charcter is anything special are you? Oooo I've got a strength of 18 and dex 17....oh, so has Khalid.

Wow, that blood really helps :)

@ Quitch: The BG2 NPCs have much better stats (even the BG1 imports have been improved somehow), and they still make any home-grown PC look special.

She already has Coran. I would say Coran is MUCH better than Kivan as an archer (cause he's the best), Kivan is better in melee. They work well together and they were two of my favorites.

How bout Yeslick? Was quite effective in my group. Or Kagain. Kivan is nice, though...
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

I found Kivan to be my most useful NPC in the game. He, IMO is the best archer.

Coran has one point Dex more than Kivan, and has Mastery in Bows, while Kivan cannot get past Specialization. This makes Coran a better archer.

Kivan can actually tank if needed, and is much more useful overall.

@Xyx: I beleieve we've had this discussion, but I remain firm with my preference of Kivan over Coran.

@ Aegis: Ah. :) Could you refresh my memory? I like Kivan more, too, but why should he be better with a bow?
