1. Attacking in combat...is there a rhyme or reason, or is it just random to hit? I seem to miss alot...especially with a bow. I can see where the arrow flies but then even when I aim say, high and right, of the target I still have issues with hitting them. Same with melee, although I try to use the attack that the weapon is geared towards the highest or most consistent damage.
2. Looting jars, crates, etc:
I have been in some towns where I can loot these with no issue, even in front of NPCs. Just got bumrushed by guards in a town for taking some alchemy ingredients out of a pot. I had just looted a crate in the same town with no issue.

1. There's a to-hit roll. It's like the RPG's of old rather than the action RPG's of Oblivion's ilk.
2. Some stuff is tagged (as owned), some isn't. Don't loot in cities unless you're a sneaky thief type character. After all, the citizens aren't storing stuff out there for charity.

Outdoors in Balmora the crates etc. are free pickings, also in the Foreign Quarter Plaza in Vivec. Other than that it's dicey, it seemed to me when I was looting that if there was some sort of cover or canopy over the container it was best to leave it alone.
