***HELP***Can't find any fences

Post by arsiwash »

Help, can't find any of the fences in the game, I am running around overloaded with stolen gear... and cant sell any of it.

If you could tell me which zone they are in and which houses, I would give you a cut of my proceeds

First and foremost, are you part of the Thieves Guild? Once you join up with them, you'll get access to the fences, as well as their locations. If I recall correctly, the first fence you get to use is a grumpy chap in Bruma

For fences you have to be in the Thieves guild. Once you join you will actually get a quest to fence a certain amount of loot and the quest will tell you where the fence is located.

There is another potential fence with one of the DLCs.

Yes, I am a member of the guild. I was told about one fence, but his location was not given to me, just the name. I checked the houses on the waterfront but he was not there. I have been going around the merchant district, but no luck there yet.

Ongar the World Weary in Bruma is your man ;)

In any case, his location should also be in your journal, no?

Well I did find him, but he is in a completely different town... and it just isnt worth going from the imperial town to a far off town just to sell a small amount of goods that I have stolen.

I was hoping to find someone a bit closer to sell my things at

Unfortunately, there are only three fences in the standard game version. They are in three separate towns. All are distant from the capital city. The only way to get the 2nd and then 3rd fences to open up is to do the fencing quests for the guild. They will then pass you up the ladder.

If you use the fast travel option, distance between towns shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also note that there are other alternatives, such as mods, that allow you to conveniently peddle your ill gotten wares.
