Stuck in The Fade *spoilers*

Looking through most of the threads, I don't think anyone else has run into this issue, and I'm hoping there is someone who can help me.

On the quest in the Circle Tower, I entered The Fade after being put to sleep by the Sloth demon. I am in the second destination in The Fade, and have talked to the mouse/mage, and have been given the ability to shapeshift into a mouse. I need to be able to do this to move on to the next part of The Fade. However, when I click on the mouse icon that should allow me to shapeshift, nothing happens. I don't know why this is or how to fix it. I have tried going back to a previous save and meeting the mouse again, but it did nothing to fix this problem.

Please help, if you know what has gone wrong or how to fix it, or else I will be permanently stuck at this point in the game.

Maybe reinstalling a certain patch may help.

For future reference, if anyone else runs into this problem, reinstalling patch 1.03 did the trick.
