I am new to the game and just started playing SOA. After I escape from Irenicus dungeon into outdoor area and Imoen is taken by Wizards all the shopkeepers say they appear to be busy. When I go to Copper Coronet I can talk to barkeep there buy Lord Jiardan says he has proposal form me but when I try to talk it won't let me.
I have the 4 in 1 Atari Boxset and played Baldur's Gate and did not have this problem in the first game.
Am I doing something wrong here in SOA?
Unable to talk to Shopkeepers ?!

Have you installed the official patch? This generally gets rid of the problem.
By the way, welcome to Game Banshee

Thanks for the welcome~!
Patch? I did not know of such a thing. I will go that route if I can figure it out. I am an old guy and not too PC savvy.....is it hard to do this patch? I play the game on a PC that not connected to internet, so is it possible to download the patch and burn it to a disc and then use it on another PC?
Apologies for the very simple (and probably obvious) questions, but I do appreciate the help.

You're welcome
Here is the patch for Shadows of Amn, if you have Throne of Bhaal installed you will need a different one, so be careful.
BioWare: Baldur's Gate II Patches
Yes, you should be able to transfer the patch to your other computer pretty easily. Once you have the patch loaded tp the game PC, drag it to your main Baldur's Gate 2 folder (the path should be something like: C/Program Files/Black Isle/BG2). After that double click on it, and the rest will be fairly self explanatory.
Note: It may not be necessarily to move the patch into your BG2 Folder, but many programs can require that type of a step so I just do it by default.

Oooofa....actually I DO have Throne of Bhaal installed....I appreciate the help and the heads up. I downloaded that file and burned it to a disc but have not loaded it yet due to your heads-up on that. I appreciate your patience with a n00b like me.
The atari 4 in 1 came with four discs and I installed them all not realizng patches would be needed. This is probably why I was unable to finish BG1...kept having weird things happen in the City, so I decided to jump to SOA....lol...

There's another patch from a group called the Gibberlings 3 (look up Gibberlings 3 Fixpack) that's worth installing too. Happily most of the BG and BG2 mods/fixpacks/tweaks are pretty straightforward, and as long as you follow the instructions pretty much install themselves.

OK, you want this patch then
BioWare: BG II: Throne of Bhaal Patches
Don't worry, there are still plenty of people around who have trouble with this kind of thing. Many questions you may have can probably be answered by running a search through our forums, but if you have any problems you can't find solutions to, do feel free to ask, it's what we are here for.
Ode is right, most of the patches and mods created for BG2 are fairly easy to install, far more so than a number of other games I've played.
Anyway, good luck! I envy you.. what I wouldn't give to be playing BG2 for the first time, it's a great game.
