I just started playing Icewind Dale.
Having played through most of the other IE games (BG1,TOSC,BG2,TOB,PS:T) - some of them numerous times, I'm not really new to the IE or D&D, but I've generally stuck to single-classed characters, or in some cases multi-classed - but never dual-classed.
From what I understand, when dual-classing the previous class becomes "inactive" until you reach the same level in the second class, including the proficiency points.
What I'm wondering is basically, if I have a fighter with 2 proficiency points in, say, "Dagger" (because I'm dual-classing to mage), then dual-class to Mage and put one more point into "Dagger", will I have 3 when the Mage class reaches the same level as the old Fighter class?
If not, what happens to the old proficiencies?
Proficiency slots when dual-classing
No, you'll still have just two, they don't stack and t's actually one level higher in the second class before the first class's proficiencies and abilities return. What I'm wondering is basically, if I have a fighter with 2 proficiency points in, say, "Dagger" (because I'm dual-classing to mage), then dual-class to Mage and put one more point into "Dagger", will I have 3 when the Mage class reaches the same level
[QUOTE=Darth Gavinius;1096098]Distrbution of games, is becoming a little like Democracy (all about money and control) - in the end choice is an illusion and you have to choose your lesser evil.

When the first class becomes active again, you'll regain it. Unless the second class restricts that. (Cleric and Druid weapons are the only thing that come to mind; Mages and Thieves should become proficient with the new weapons.)forbjok wrote:Ok, if I instead put it in something I didn't have any points in in the original class, will it stay when the first class becomes usable again, or will it just dissappear?
