Newbie Question on Skill Level Up

Post by ve6tp »

I'm at level 6, wanting to take the Mage path

When I go to the skills display, it says I have 3 points left. I want to fired up the "Lock Pick" skill which presently is zero. When I click on that icon, it says "You have no level in this skill yet'. But I want to get a level on that skill.

If I have 3 points unused and I'm at level 6, why can't I open this skill up? In fact I cannot open any other skill up.

What am I doing wrong or how do I level up or open up a skill?

I'd sure appreciate some explanation of how leveling up skills at the beginning of the game is done.

Thanks for any help.

Some skills require a minimum level. Maybe you aren't high enough lvl yet? Although, I don't recall Lockpick requiring a certain lvl.
Otherwise, it's probably a bug. If this is about Divine Divinity from GoG, uninstall and Re-download: they should have a new version up.

Thanks for your reply.

As is usual, I am the problem. I'm very new to the game and I was not aware that when I select a skill, you have to click on the arrow that is on the side of the icon to indicate what level you want. And to me (old age I guess) the arrows on the side were just not evident enough to draw my attention to them. I didn't see them. I didn't know they were there.

I finally lucked in and my problem is solved. It was very frustrating though.

Thanks again for your time and help. You are the only one who took the time and posted a reply.

Sometimes the problem just isn't that obvious. Also, Divine Divinity isn't played a lot, so few people actually visit here. :) I hope you enjoy the game, it was a very pleasant surprise for me when I played it.
