Sigh, I admit it. My first time with PST. I have just about every other Infinity Engine game from Bioware but I have hit a snag with this one and need some help.
After reading for years about how unique and great this game is I finally was able to pick up a copy at a reasonable price. It is a new copy and is all on one DVD. The game loaded fine and has no problem starting up. I downloaded and installed the official patch.
I was able to create my version of The Nameless One with no problem. The game goes through the opening video clip and starts fine as well. I went around the room and got the door key and the bandages. But I am stuck and cannot leave the Mortuary Room. Everytime I try the door I get told, "You need the key" !?!?!? I have put the key in my inventory, put it in a quick slot, and have even tried giving it to Morte. I have tried to force the door with no success. Tried putting the key on one of the desks and then pick it up again. Still no joy. Any ideas, out there? After such anticipation this is a real let down.

If memory serves, there should be a total of three doors in the room you start in. Two on the stairs and one all the way to the left.
The two gates right next to the slab you wake up on cannot be opened until later. Have you tried the door (or gate) all the way to the (upper) left of the starting room?
