Removing/dismissing distant npcs from your party?

Post by daemondamian »

Hi Folks,
I just started playing Baldur's Gate today (well actually Easy tutu as I go BG2 and the expansions for both too) and got to the first map/point after Gorion is killed and I still have npcs in my party from Obe's illusion training back in Candlekeep (Arkanis, Canderous, Osprey, Deder) although they're back in Candlekeep.

I can't remove them even when I come across the two 'shady' characters who want me to either go with them or for them to come with me and the option comes up to remove npcs to add these two other characters it won't let me.

Is there a way to get rid of the Candlekeep npcs from my party or do I need to restart the game from the very beginning again? :(

Thanks :)

Hmm, I've never come across that glitch, the only thing I can suggest is using the console to kill them. You can find instructions on how to set up the console here. You'll have to enable cheat keys, and then press Ctrl+Y on each character's portrait. Hopefully that will work, if not then all I can suggest is restarting, unless someone else can come up with an answer.

Remove them with a savegame editor, perhaps?

Or play without Tutu. :)
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

The reason that you have this problem is, I think, because you were trying to use the exploit available in BG1 to keep them in your party.

I used to use it myself as the fighter/thief is the best thief in the game. :D

If you want them using Tutu, you need to use one of the mods that allows you to send them to the Friendly Arms Inn. (SCS and BG1 NPC project I think)Unfortunately, they haven't been modified into the correct format for Tutu. Have a look at their proficiencies, and you'll see what I mean.

I think that the writers of Tutu, thought that they shouldn't be available.

I believe that you can't even change them in Shadowkeeper.
